They did not lie about him. They did not misrepresent what crimes he committed or what a threat he is to our democracy. He is proving them right every day.
But there are some in the media that are blaming MSNBC for the way they reported on Trump and accuse them of hyping the story to try and get ratings. I do not believe that to be the case. Perhaps they can argue that MSNBC spent too much time on Trump reporting, but someone had to do it.
Unfortunately, it was not enough. The dictator wannabe won the election and now a lot of people appear ready to kiss the ring and sing glory to the King.
In my opinion, MSNBC tried to report factually and truthfully on Donald Trump and his plans if elected back to the White House.
Now, they are going to have to pay the price. Everybody agrees to a paycut or they will be fired.
In my opinion, MSNBC will be proven right in their reporting. Time will show that it was lies and propaganda that pushed the convicted felon across the finish line, with the stories they refused to report.
"Fake news" won the day.

(2,936 posts)same thing for CNN.
People are tired of hearing about Trump. Nobody wants to hear about his chaos, cruelty, bigotry, sexism, etc. everyday for another four years. People have tuned out.

Its business, but Citizens United broke the barrier between politics and oligarchs.

(18,690 posts)did a pretty good job, especially if you compare them to other major news organizations. It's really hard to fault Nicole Wallace, Maddow, Joy Reid, Ali Velshi, Chris Hayes, Jen Psaki and Lawrence O'Donnell. I know that after eight years of this I became very particular and over critical. Even the wrong word in a headline could agitate me. I know most people who consume news aren't like us. Many people at DU live and breathe political news and quickly recognize duplicitous wording, click-baiting, both siderism, normalization, sanewashing, etc...
I didn't have the same high regard for the morning anchors and Alex Witt on weekends.
I would never, ever die on a hill criticizing MSNBC. I watched them more or less every week day for eight years and was often grateful they were there, especially during those very difficult weeks we've experienced. Overturning Roe. The death of Ruth Bader Ginsberg. The 2020 election. January 6. The Jan 6 hearings. So much! We've been through some horrible times together, and MSNBC was my go to for a long time. But for me it was just time to move on. There's a lot of really good stuff out there.

(196,491 posts)Fox bases the story on their own spin. CNN tries to straddle the line.

(8,710 posts)I've never been an MSNBC fan, as IMO, they're simply the liberal version of FoxNews. I prefer my news in the vein of tell me what's happening/happened, and let me make up my own mind about it.
I prefer BBC or al Jazeera because it's mostly straight news, not opinion.

(25,822 posts)but the shows I watch, definitely tried to warn the public to the dangers of a second "it" presidency. Nicolle Wallace and Lawrence O'Donnell are shows I watched almost every day. Some nights, I watched a lot in between those two, and they all did a good job of exposing what "it" would do in a second term.
I totally agree that fake news won the day. People believed the garbage spewed on Fox and similar ilk.
