As in go out of your way to buy the goods that will be slapped by Trump tariffs.
Consider it a buycott. A boycott in reverse. Become aware of what products are affected by Trump tariffs and buy those. Don't buy those that are duty-free or otherwise exempt from tariffs.
Class is more than money, it's also symbols. Let's look at it as a status symbol, of conspicuous consumption. I have the class and refinement to buy goods affected by tariffs. Do you? Doesn't bother me. The goods I buy have to go through red tape. Sounds like a luxury, buying the good affected by a tariff.
And here's this: If we can believe that paying more for healthcare than every other country means it has to be the best system in the world then we can do the same for goods affected by tariffs.
And the government's not going to tell me what to do here. I will continue buying goods from Canada and Mexico.
You don't have to buy everything affected by a tariff... but if it's a good that has a tariff slapped on it vs something that is duty free, then I'm going for the good affected by the tariff.

Dont worry the Trump tariff fiasco will harm a lot of Americans, along with Trump and the GOP.

(5,011 posts)by paying his TAXES on goods--- money he wants to use to be able to cut taxes for billionaires!
I don't see a "win" here, in any sense. Yes, you're free to do anything you want,
but I surely won't be joining you on purpose!

(26,314 posts)I'm sure that I am not alone in being crunched to fucking death.
My savings has evaporated and my debt climbs just to keep a roof over my head, support my daughter, and pay my bills so I surely cannot be hunting higher prices to make some point and I'm probably better off than a majority of the population.
I know it is not your intent but this shit comes off as way past privileged and as tone death as a damn stone.
I'm eating ramen almost every day and folks are bragging about burning money by the pallet to make a point is tough to see.
No wonder folks on here can't even imagine people are having it tough, y'all are rich and could care less what rent is, y'all are the landlords.
