Sharon Stone is amazing as an actress and as a human being.
Thank you so much for posting this....

(2,793 posts)One Christmas, I volunteered to prepare and serve dinner at a homeless shelter in Tucson. Ms Stone was working with me. She was making a film in the area, and didn't feel like going back to LA for the holiday, preferring to do something useful.
She is a good person.

(3,486 posts)They don't know that most of the fascist dictators that came to power in Europe in recent history were from the right, and were actually anti- communist. Leaders like Mossolini, Hitler and Franco were not Leftists.

(3,486 posts)It's always funny to hear some Magat parrot that whole Hitler was a National Socialist therefore he was a leftist BS. Socialists and Communists were the enemies of Hitler.

(29,839 posts)instead. It may not fill the self-hating
masochistic void as well, but it's far closer to the truth.
Americans are no more likely to be "dumb" than people of other countries and, as we know, posts here denigrating any of those would be deleted immediately.

Historic NY
(37,969 posts)about it. I specialize in the Revolutionary War and the things people say . I have to say, well, that's not exactly right 80% of the time. They left grade school with an education that was stunted and didn't expand it in HS.
Revolutionary War blends to the Civil War. We've seen that with the misappropriation of the Declaration of Independence. They don't seem to know that it was a letter written to King George III.

(171 posts)About the entire nation.
In my opinion her privilege is limiting her perspective.
There are some Americans who might be consistent with her description, and quite possibly many of the incoming administration are, but the people I know are wonderful, generous, kind and undeserving of her broad brush characterization.
Also, not everyone has the means to be well traveled. However, we as Americans can learn from our fellow citizens because everyone in the world is represented here.
We are a young nation AND there are a lot of good people living here.
(I refuse to click on the X link to hear any more of what she has to say.)

(6,574 posts)hence you are exemplifying what she said. "America is in an adolescent stage... they don't have the history that Italians do. Adolescents are ignorant and naive and arrogant."
You are stating an opinion about her words without having listened to them. That's arrogance. And ignorance of her opinion. And it's naive to think it's "some Americans" she's talking about.

(391 posts)I cut the cord in 2008.
I've been reading DU and Crooks and Liars since 2010.
I get all the truthful news I need from Randi Rhodes, The Damage Report with John Iadarola, TYT, Thom Hartmann, Farron Cousins, Brian Tyler Cohen, Rebel HQ, and Majority Report, every day -and- YOU get to chose which story to watch!
Stop spending money on disinformation. Cut the cord. Be Free!
and enjoy PBS. They have the best, most informative shows, and their Masterpiece dramas from the UK are, well, masterpieces!
Their Frontline on Xi Jinping and China was very enlightening.
It's time. It's time for Americans to wake up and pull your heads out of this FoxNewsmax/MSNBCNN corporate advertising machine so many of you are paying for. There is a better way.
Digital Over The Air TV is here, been here, all it takes is an antenna, and you can use a paper-clip for that!

Sorry, but this smacks of an elitism that she, literally perhaps, can afford, but not so much the rest of us. This kind of broad brushed denigration just reeks of self-hatred..FFS, the election was only won by one and a half points.
