80% of Fentanyl smuggled into US are by US citizens at legal ports of entry

Many people wrongly believe that immigration is critical to the illicit supply of fentanyl in the United States. However, proponents of this view have offered little more than speculation to support it. New data obtained by the Cato Institute via a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request calls this belief into question. The new dataset shows that US citizens comprised 80 percent of individuals caught with fentanyl during border crossings at ports of entry from 2019 to 2024.

1. MAGA will never hear that and if they do, they'll call it fake news.

No, it’s those damn immigrants!

Yes, people turning themselves in and applying for asylum, knowing if they commit a crime, it won’t be granted. So, of course, they’re smuggling drugs.

3. Then we should only have 20 percent of the fentanyl in our country if the rest was taken by authorities.

There’s a ton more around than that. Something doesn’t add up.

Hey! Just saying, it's not like they're squeaky clean. Old habits and all that. Hi Agent Mike.

2. drumpf doesn't care about facts

what he cares about is making americas afraid of their own shadows, and convincing them only he can fix it, so please give me total power over the entire government, and i will fix it. To do that you need boogeymen and other various vague non-descript "thems" you can convince people are the reason their lives are terrible.

Unfortunately 505 of the voting public is either too racist or two stupid to see through this ploy, and now we all have to watch for the enxt 4 years while drumpf rips apart the institutions that, while certainly imperfect, have held us together long enough to make us a superpower.

would they believe it? would they care? would they stop screaming about hordes of immigrants?
But I think it's important to understand this. Fentanyl kills - my grandson struggles with addiction disease and it scares the shit out of me.

13. According to DEA, Illicit fentanyl, primarily manufactured in foreign clandestine labs and smuggled into the US

through Mexico, is being distributed across the country and sold on the illegal drug market. Fentanyl is being mixed in with other illicit drugs to increase the potency of the drug, sold as powders and nasal sprays, and increasingly pressed into pills made to look like legitimate prescription opioids. Because there is no official oversight or quality control, these counterfeit pills often contain lethal doses of fentanyl, with none of the promised drug."

That doesn't mean trump is right about retribution against immigrants.

The reason Republicans and Trump have been able to exploit this issue is 100% because the mainstream media has refused to do its duty to report the truth about fentanyl coming into this country.
