(13,024 posts)Which Congress members are billionaires.
Thats the vetting that guides his selections.
How many In this cabinet already are?
And every one of them are there for the working class.
Seeing the MAGA mouth breathing drooling Chinese wardrobe wearing fools behind him at his Jamborees is actually damn funny.
The billionaires hate breathing the air that exits those gapping holes in their faces.
Oligarchy Much???? The country was just sold at a garage sell. Spare change to the ones that bought it.

(37,962 posts)But it is now so close that by elections will matter significantly and it will be near impossible to get extremist legislation through the House. Speaker Jeffries may happen before 2026.
Gaetz resigned and if Stefanik leaves its 218-215.

(46,147 posts)The likelihood of the Democrats capturing those three special elections is pretty slim, so it probably ends up back at 220-215 by spring.
But it sets up well for 2026.

(37,962 posts)No major changes to anything will get through this House.
In 2017, the repugs had a 40 seat majority. Now they do not.

(3,124 posts)Voters are starting to panic over the clown cabinet and tariffs. They may realize the only way to hold the line is with a dem house

(46,147 posts)Stefanik, Waltz and Gaetz won their districts with more than 60 percent of the vote. I'm afraid you overestimate how much voters understand about the tariffs and how quickly their impact will be felt. By the 2026 election, it could make a difference. But not just a few months into 2025.

(26,081 posts)We voted for Biden in 2024 and tsf barely won here this time. Jax. is a light purple county.

(46,147 posts)Presumably your post is in reference to Florida Congressional District 6, which is Waltz's district. The City of Jacksonville is not in the district, although some of the southern suburbs of Jacksonville are. Jacksonville is not a County; it is in Duval County and Duval County is in the 4th and 5th Congressional Districts, not the 6th Congressional District.
In 2020, District 6 voted for Trump over Biden by a sizable 58.3 - 40.8 margin. This year, Trump took the district by an even greater 65-35 margin.
So I stand by my post.

(179,919 posts)The problem for House GOP leaders isn't just the number of seats the party won. It's also the number of members joining the Trump administration.

But lets take a step further and note that while House Republicans have currently won 219 seats for the next Congress, that total includes:
Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, who resigned last week and wont return to Capitol Hill;
Rep. Mike Waltz of Florida, whos giving up his seat to join Donald Trumps White House team; and
Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York, whos giving up her seat to become the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
....Yes, these members will probably but not definitely be replaced with other Republicans. But as the new Congress gets underway, the House GOP will have a tiny majority that will barely exist as some members give up their seats for Trump administration jobs.
Passing legislation will be incredibly difficult. Electing a speaker on Day One might pose some challenges, too. Watch this space.

(23,718 posts)Indeed. This is clickbait anti-trump-porn design to capitalize on the desperation, fear and anger of Liberals to drive traffic and money to their site. In short, it is the same tactic the right uses. They are not a reliable or fact-based organization.

The results of the election made that crystal clear to me.

(13,688 posts)Yes the Republicans won't be able to accomplish much with such a slim majority but neither will the Democrats. I think we are going to have to depend on the Senate Democrats to keep that ahole in check. As long as the filibuster rule remains Dems In the Senate will have leverage.
