Keith Olbermann has covered this insanity extensively. And, do not forget, he plans on being a dictator on day one.

(6,640 posts)He was first elected in 1962, then was reelected in 1966. In 1970, he did not run because he was term limited. But, by 1974 he decided he wanted back in, so he filed to run, but the Secretary of State said he was term-limited and could not run. He sued, and eventually the Ohio Supreme Court ruled that the limitation was only applicable to consecutive terms. He ran and won, beating an incumbent Democrat in the Watergate-influenced 1974 election, no less. He was reelected in 1978 and ended up serving four terms.

The other scenario is he simply does it without any sort of legal legitimacy. In that case he might as well not even run. He would just hold onto power forcefully.

(11,098 posts)The constitution is clear. They certainly wouldn't be able to say a constitutional amendment written less than 75 years ago can be interpreted any other way...
If he ran, he would run against Obama: something he wouldnt dare try. That being said, if he is going to violate the constitution-why would he do it in a small way? He's a go big or go home kinda guy.
Trump will not be running for re election. He will either step aside in four years. Or he won't.

He may decide to make himself king which is basically what the Supreme Court has made him anyway. SC will rubber-stamp whatever he wants and all his psychophants are going to go along with it.
But still way too old.

(998 posts)We have to pace ourselves and quit worrying ourselves to death over what this guy might do 4 years from now.
He hasn't even started his second term yet. We got a long way to go until the next presidential election. And in Trump Time every week feels three times longer.
Personally my main immediate fear is how awful he's going to be as president. He's simply not mentally equipped to handle the pressures of the job. He's going to pick right up where he left the country in 2021. Paranoid, hyper sensitive to criticism, whining on social media about being mistreated and preferring to watch TV and golf instead of reading his daily intelligence briefings.
Honestly I just hope we all survive 2025. If he puts Project 2025 and all his unqualified cabinet members in place our health and national security will be at risk. Just like how he mishandled covid and civil rights protests in 2020.
