I have trump anxiety and I haven't been able to watch any of my favorite msnbc shows for longer than 10 minutes a pop, but I'm worried that our favorite shows will end up canceled... or worse... and then what will we have at that point?

Is it time for those of us who can stomach the news to resume watching so we can at least have a presence in the political talk show space?

Or is the plan to rely on youtube influencers going forward?

Reading, for example. There are MANY free-to-read places where you can get excellent long form reporting and analysis. The Guardian. ProPublica.org. The many excellent thinkers/writers on Substack. I daresay you'll find reading the news a far more rewarding experience than (a) having to consume news on a schedule and topic decided by someone else, and (2) having the "analysis" shoveled passively into your brain.

Other outlets are filling the void. It's not bad or wrong; it's just a cultural shift. I mean, a significant percentage of young people have never even had cable. How would they have watched MSNBC even it it had appealed to them? It's the same kind of disruptive change as when cable won out over the major broadcast networks and when streaming music services displaced radio stations, etc.

As good as some of the anchors are, MSNBC is not the media saviour many hoped it would be.
