For weeks, I have floated a petty but funny idea for Biden to step down very close to the inauguration, maybe even the day before and ensure that Kamala Harris would then be the 47th POTUS. The goal would solely be to turn all of Trump's crass merchandising efforts -- I conceived this after seeing one of his 45-47 hats -- into a morass. All the paraphernalia ordered and shipped out by then would be useless, creating an unanticipated business cost. Same with any decorations, cakes, napkins, plates, whatever at the host of inaugural activities around Washington DC. Due to Trump's weird obsessions with getting certain things right, it would have been a burr under his saddle.
It would have also been possible for Harris to issue the pardon to Hunter Biden during her brief stint at the Resolute Desk. She could have plainly stated that she foresaw the incoming administration abusing the power of its office to harass Hunter Biden for the duration of its term in power.
It would have also allowed Joe Biden to live up to the promise he made not to pardon Hunter. Oh, well.,

(10,261 posts)Nancy Pelosi needs to give a class on how to debate to Dem politicians. Most of them are just too nice and easygoing. Republicans have had Newt Gingrich, Roger Ailes, Karl Rove to teach them how to win dirty. How did the Republicans get so good at psychology? I work in the field and only know of a few Republicans around.

(71,531 posts)Why should Hunter be hounded for the rest of his life because he is Biden's son? Biden should also pardon every single person on Trump's enemy list.

(69,236 posts)I have a guess that Biden and Harris are working 24/7 to shore up as much as possible before orange guy and his wrecking crew move in. Taking time and energy for a PR stunt is rightly low on their list of priorities.

(25,621 posts)of the complaints from Republicans when Clinton's staff turned over the WH offices to Bush Jr. They said that the Ws had been removed from all the keyboards.
this is no more fucks to give thing than a service to country thing.

(56,139 posts)They would have said it was a corrupt deal, that Harris only got to be president so that she could pardon hunter.
It would have been ugly, republicans always make it ugly.

(15,556 posts)they are experts at this and have a 24 gigantic media to keep it alive.
Who the flip cares? Do you care? Do you think people will remember this 30 years from now like they remember HW Bush pardoning his son?
Who WOULDN"T pardon their son? If Hunter's dad had not been the president he would not have been prosecuted. How could you look your son in the eye and say "I'm not pardoning you even though I am the reason for your troubles"?

(9,212 posts)But dems should not be making an issue of it. I dont watch news anymore for the most part so I dont have listen to their crap. It seems to be mostly troll posts about it here.

(1,989 posts)Smart people evolve. When 60 Minutes said vaccines cause autism, I decided not to vaccinate my boys. Things change. We learn new information. I changed my mind with new information and had my boys vaccinated. Did I lie when I said I wasn't going to vaccinate them and then I did? Hell no!
When Biden said he would not interfere, the chump was not going to be in charge. Trump's pet, Patel, has a hit list and Biden is on it. They have already gone after Hunter for things no look he else would have been charged with. They broke the plea agreement. Biden assessed the situation and evolved. No lies. Just common sense.

(22,919 posts)There would be 24/7 outrage about Harris taking the position followed by 24/7 outrage about Harris pardoning Hunter Biden.
Outrage is all the right has; they will find a reason for it concerning any given topic on any given news day.

(3,846 posts)... nor do I recall him "promising" anything to anyone. So let's drop the Chicken Little histrionics over Biden protecting his son from the malicious filth on the Dark Side of the Aisle, shall we? There are far more pressing issues to contend with.
I recall when Bush the Lesser's campaign targeted John McCain's adopted daughter with scurrilous accusations, and Dubya laughed off McCain's indignation with, "C'mon, John, it's just politics!"
No, Georgie, it was just being a fucking Republican with the moral compass of a rabid hyena.

(3,453 posts)No because Democrats are held to a higher standard and are subject to a double-standard.
Republicans are allowed to get away with such a stunt; Democrats would be denounced, vilified, and pilloried.
