Olivia Troye's attorney has responded to Kash Patel's demand for a retraction

Mark Zaid is a first class attorney and Binnall is a hack who has filed a couple of lawsuits for trump. I love the concept of using a picture from Monty Python to respond to Patel's demand for a retraction

Someone better have some aloe-coated toilet paper, because his ass just got burned! Hell, I can feel the heat from here!😂

What a bunch of incompetent morans (sic). Personally, even if you spotted them a tear in it, I wouldn’t trust any of them to find their way out of a wet paper bag.

First class attorneys should proof read- or pay someone to proof read for them.

Otherwise, good letter.

I always proof read, and have my assistant proof read, everything that goes out of the office over my signature. Even so, errors are sometimes missed. Every now and then, someone will point out the error and I apologize profusely if insincerely.

35. Solicitors' letter to Private Eye:
Fri Dec 6, 2024, 08:29 PM

We act for Mr Arkell who is Retail Credit Manager of Granada TV Rental Ltd.

His attention has been drawn to an article appearing in the issue of Private Eye dated 9th April 1971 on page 4. The statements made about Mr Arkell are entirely untrue and clearly highly defamatory.

We are therefore instructed to require from you immediately your proposals for dealing with the matter. Mr Arkell's first concern is that there should be a full retraction at the earliest possible date in Private Eye and he will also want his costs paid. His attitude to damages will be governed by the nature of your reply.

The reply that the Eye sent back was:

We acknowledge your letter of 29th April referring to Mr J. Arkell.

We note that Mr Arkell's attitude to damages will be governed by the nature of our reply and would therefore be grateful if you would inform us what his attitude to damages would be, were he to learn that the nature of our reply is as follows: fuck off.

A libel writ with a "curt note" arrived by return of post. The legal process continued for more than a year before the case fell apart and Private Eye was awarded costs. The Eye wrote "In view of the above, Mr Arkell has now, albeit belatedly, complied with the suggestion made to him at an earlier stage in the proceedings."

This response by Troye's attorney made me laugh

https://www.rawstory.com/kash-patel-2670350304/

A national security lawyer with a reputation for defending political whistleblowers appeared unfazed by legal threats flung by President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to head the FBI.

In a legal letter on Friday, Mark Zaid sneered at demands Kash Patel made for Olivia Troye, a former counterterrorism aide to Mike Pence, to “publicly retract defamatory statements” of the MAGA loyalist. Zaid answered Patel’s lawyer Jesse Binnall, a veteran Trump attorney, by first noting that Troye’s statements have been previously stated “by a wide swath of the knowledgeable population.”

He then offered Patel’s attorney a visual image in his letter to reiterate his stance.

“But to answer your specific question as to Ms. Troye’s intensions as to a retraction, I think Monty Python expresses it best,” Zaid wrote above a photo of a mustached character from the Monty Python film known as the “French Taunter.”

“My counsel @markzaidesq.bsky.social’s response to #KashPatel & his threat to sue me for being critical of him on media & stating he is unfit to serve as FBI Director,” Troye wrote on social media. “Monty Python enters the chat.”

And Zaid wasn’t done. He also launched a social media blitz where he dug into his unwavering defense of his client and referred to Patel as “thin-skinned.”
