I saw a few weeks ago that a GOP congressman was looking to revive a formerly attempted Democratic bill that would expand the courts. Considering the current SCOTUS has signalled being less than lukewarm about Trump's proposals, how likely is it that the GOP and Trump will expand the court so they can get more friendly justices? Thinking a Justice Rick Scott, Ted Cruz, Lauren Boebert?

(11,098 posts)Such as literally replacing Trump with the constitution (let's not forget that was a stated goal in his campaign), expanding the supreme court might be necessary.

But one thing seems clear: the "neutral" arguments that some have made for expanding the court -- such as adding justices to match the number of circuit courts -- are just a cover. We're for it when a Democratic president could fill the additional positions and against it when its not a Democratic president. Which is fine, by the way.
