Executive 'hit lists' and wanted posters: NYPD warns about threats to executives
"Wanted" signs featuring corporate executives have been posted in Manhattan.

A New York Police Department bulletin issued Tuesday emphasized the heightened risk environment for health care executives following last week's brazen killing of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Viral posts online have listed the names and salaries of several health insurance executives, multiple "Wanted" signs featuring corporate executives have been posted throughout Manhattan and users on social media continue to celebrate Thompson's death, according to the bulletin.

The warning signs come as a sea of social media posts indicate that shooting suspect Luigi Mangione might be viewed as a "martyr" who could inspire extremists to action.

That sounds like it is a new direction. This is more like another small stepping stone to the gates of hell. Remember, we just elected a person who did exactly this to threaten witnesses and the Judge's family in his own criminal trials.

This is not a new direction. And anybody who is riled up about these posters should show at least the same amount of disdain for the politicians who have been doxing enemies and calling for armed violence, as well as the HC companies that are killing tens of thousands of people annually.

Something else I would point out is that the customers of the HC insurance companies have no control over anything. The companies hold all the power and many of these customers are not even aware that important therapies or treatments are being withheld. Yet they paid their premiums in good faith. In contrast, the HC executives know EXACTLY what they are doing. They are choosing to kill people because they are just items on a spreadsheet standing between the executives and their next mansion or yacht.

I called it way back in... 2004? Mentioning that it was only going to get worse if people in power didn't start paying attention. And every year, every election, it's been getting worse and worse. Then 2020 and Covid hit, people got months of downtime to pursue their passions and loves, and then when the lockdowns ended, "Get back to work you unwashed proles!" Now we've got Trump again, by no small margin, and people are making a martyr out of this Luigi because he just did what they've always wanted to.

Likewise, he showed them both that it can be done, and how to do it. It remains to be seen if any others follow his lead.

People saw freedom for the first time in their lives, and Corporate America has done everything in their power to grind us back down under their heels ever since. I don't think this will stop without FAR more shooting, since the Corporatists will never back down if it would hurt their bottom line even one cent.

Doxxing refers to posting private info. Nothing on either poster suggests personal info was displayed, and there is no threat of violence. "Deny. Defend. Depose." suggests action but not violence - unless you see obtaining legal depositions to be violent. (And yes, I know it can also mean to "remove someone from office forcefully," but that doesn't necessarily mean violently, even in that context.)

A person would have to be purposely obtuse to not link "deny. defined. depose" with violence after this week's actions.

As I'm sure you know, the first amendment applies to government institutions. Where did I argue the government should censor whoever the idiot is thats hanging these? The flipside of free speech, though, is I get to call out clear violent rhetoric for what it is. We're not going to pretend "deny, defend, depose" means anything BUT violence this week.

Personally, I'm usually a empathetic person, but this CEO like so many others know what theyre doing, they make money by the deaths of other human beings.
The UHC CEO put in a AI system that was made to deny claims.
Do they get life sentences, tried in a court, for their crimes against humanity?

No, they're celebrated has good people, when they really are some of the worst human beings on the planet.

So I'll put it this way. The murder is a reaction to health insurance companies feasting off the corpses of their customers, pulling in billions of dollars to enrich the top corporates.

I think just deserts were only a matter of time. It's just the start.

My son goes to his school everyday with the fear of a shooter. I'm not monied enough for private school.
Let me put it this way: I wouldn't set a man on fire personally, but there are plenty of people I can think of where
I wouldn't waste water to put them out. For those who think this is harsh, from where I'm sitting, the post war social contract
is pretty frayed in this country. We seem to be nothing but raw resources for the rich. It won't be too long before they will no longer need us at all. We will be relegated to starve, die whatever. When that day arrives, get back with me pearl clutchers.

“Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.”

Justifying murder because you don't like what the person's industry is doing is not OK.

Kind of like shooting up an abortion clinic because you don't like abortion isn't OK.

why hide if they are proud of what they do for a living ?

the hiding is the problem , not the publicity IMO

The people of this country? Against ending healthcare programs for the poor, or the gun violence or anything but profits.

I guess the chaos won, the day trump/putin did.

The Republican party allowed this when they didn't convict the insurrectionist. The Republicans on the Supreme Court allowed this when they gave him immunity.

Welcome to the lawlessness brought to you by the Republican party and their rich benefactors.

US judges rule in favour of abortion “hit list”

Antiabortionists in the United States have won the right to run a website publicising the names and addresses of doctors who provide abortions to pregnant women.

A three judge panel of a federal appeals court in San Francisco ruled that a website called “The Nuremberg Files” which depicted severed limbs dripping blood and listed the names and addresses of abortion providers, crossing their names off after they were killed, was constitutionally protected.

The panel held that the rhetoric was protected by First Amendment guarantees of the right of free speech that does not “authorise, ratify, or directly threaten violence.” The same ruling applied to old-style “Wanted” posters that branded a “Deadly Dozen” abortion doctors as “baby butchers.”

Please note, before losing your collective shit, this is NOT me condoning any sort of violence, vigilante activity, nor the murder of any CEO, regardless of what a shit "human" they may have been.

To me it looks like another headline begging for clicks/recs/subscribes from the publisher.

Wed Dec 11, 2024, 03:28 PM

I saw Gov. Shapiro make a statement, not sure if Biden has? A lot of folks have sympathy for the message, if not the shooter. Obviously not just a minority agree that we have a big problem with health insurance in this country. It would help if leaders would actually acknowledge that problem and suggest we need to look at the industry and how it does business.

The frustration is that we are heading towards Trump's inauguration, and he has already not only permitted lawlessness, but encouraged it (Jan. 6th). I was kind of in shock when Trump was actually elected this time, knowing it would be bad. I'm not sure I even anticipated how bad. This may be just the tip of the iceberg. There is so much anger in our country right now.

It has pushed our failed insurance -run -profit- based- health care system into the foreground and discussion. This system was a bad idea from the get-go, and it isn't going to fix itself.
I think profiteering from injury, accident, disease, and genetic background is both morally wrong and shows our lack of compassion for our neighbor.
WHY DO WE HAVE A SYSTEM THAT OFTEN BANKRUPTS PEOPLE/OR HAVE THEM DIE WAITING FOR APPROVAL FROM SOME UNKNOWN THIRD PARTY?
