Trump Is About to Betray His Rural Supporters

"SNIP...........

Ron Brownstein: “Donald Trump’s support in rural America appears to have virtually no ceiling. In last month’s election, Trump won country communities by even larger margins than he did in his 2020 and 2016 presidential runs. But several core second-term policies that Trump and the Republican Congress have championed could disproportionately harm those places.”

“Agricultural producers could face worse losses than any other economic sector from Trump’s plans to impose sweeping tariffs on imports and to undertake what he frequently has called ‘the largest domestic deportation operation’ of undocumented immigrants ‘in American history.’ Hospitals and other health providers in rural areas could face the greatest strain from proposals Trump has embraced to slash spending on Medicaid, which provides coverage to a greater share of adults in smaller communities than in large metropolitan areas. And small-town public schools would likely be destabilized even more than urban school districts if Trump succeeds in his pledge to expand ‘school choice’ by providing parents with vouchers to send their kids to private schools.”

Trump might do as he has done in the past. He might say he did things he didn't do. Think of his "Wall." He's "going to build that wall. In fact a lot of it has already been built." He never built the wall, but he kept saying he was building it, even though it didn't get built.

So, maybe he'll deport a few loads of migrants, declare that he has deported "Millions and Millions" and keep saying that for four years. Meanwhile, the migrants that are working in the fields, in your favorite restaurant, etc., just keep on working there. But Trump will say, "We're deporting the migrants every day. Soon, they'll all be sent home and America will be migrant-free."

We're going to slap huge tariffs on China. Even on Canada and Mexico. Then, he'll initiate some tariffs on some thing and call it a win. Never mind that he excluded everything that his billionaire buddies don't want tariffs on. But, he'll say, "We put the tariffs on like nobody has ever seen before." People will believe him and Fox News will repeat his claims again and again.

Trump says what he'll do, then he does little, and says, "See what I did!" That's his pattern.

Or maybe not. We'll see.

Just about anything is possible in the current environment, I think.

I can only wait and see, since I'm not in any position to alter how things are going to turn out. At my current age, I'm just another voter at this point.

At this stage I too am only a voter. Whether or not he plans what he's doing, TSF is a chaos creator. Since he's a bag of arrogant ignorance, dumping hate, fear and lies on his believers and assures them that he's the only solution... (it's a cult ya' know)

I'm living in Oregon where we just elected a super majority of Democrats in our state House and Senate to join our re-elected governor, even flipped a Congressional seat to Democrats. But somehow I feel our state's rights will be under constant attack for at least the next two if not 4 years...

PS: the 1 term Republican Lori Chavez-DeRemer who lost has been nominated by TSF to run the Labor Department, with apparently some resistance from the RW echo chamber, assuming that she's too pro-worker (ha!)

... Trump's tariffs in his first go around cost farmers $7.8 billion in lost soybean sales in one year! China and others looked to Brazil and the clear cut rain forest lands to make up for it. Which Brazil was only too happy to answer to. Argentina is chomping at the bit for the next round of TSF tariffs.

I live among them in a southern state, and they just love feeling superior to non-whites. That's what the Gang Of Putinites gives them, racism on a white-silver platter. Most are not going to care about any suffering Trump doles out to them. I blame religion, where lightness, brightness & whiteness is considered good, while darkness, dimness & blackness is considered evil. Therefore, it's not surprising why whites lap up Christianity, but it is surprising that non-whites would go along with it.

We will never know the truth of what Trump is doing unless we start watching the BBC/Guardian etc., news sources.

American media is owned and controlled by the Oligarchs - so the truth of anything is that truth that they will propagate to the public.

The worker issue could get interesting since big farmers and big construction are lining up to get exemptions for their undocumented workers. They need to be jailed.
