This is not hard for police to run down if they are worried. Drones are commanded by radio signals. dutch777 Dec 2024 #2
Drones larger than 250 grams must have a location transmitter...... groundloop Dec 2024 #3

Direction finding for point source radio emissions is very straightforward and they can't be too far from where the drones are. Yes, they could be in a building or back of a van but if they are breaking the law (which I am not quite sure most of these are doing) focused enforcement action should be able to get after this easily. There was just a news article yesterday of a drone in the vicinity of an airport in NY and the police had the tech to detect and direction find the controller frequency and found three men running it. Two were captured and one got away but this is not something that takes the Feds or the military if local law enforcement is trained and equipped. And they did not appear to be foreign nationals.

that lets anyone with the proper receiving technology know not only the drone location & altitude but also the location of the controller (assuming the operator of the drone hasn't disabled it, but I'd imagine that'd be pretty difficult to do).

Personally I have to wonder if Elmo is up to something.

Like shooting one down so they can invoke martial law or a part of the PEADS act. Didn’t Trump just say a day or two ago that someone should shoot one down. Or Eloon is using it as a distraction from dismantling the government.
