A few months ago, the AfD came out as the strongest party in the state-elections of the german state of Thuringia. As such, they were awarded the privilege to get the first try at forming a government, to be ratified by a parliamentary vote.

By chance, the speaker-pro-tempore also happened to be an AfD-member. He violated the House-rules by refusing to acknowledge an attempt by a Representative to ask for a motion. There was a huge scandal and a court had to step in and the whole affair was ruined with political scandal.

EXCEPT...........

The speaker-pro-tempore later accidently admitted in an interview with a right-wing outlet that their plan had been all along to manufacture a scandal that would need to be settled in court, to generate publicity for the AfD party on social-media.

Outraged, the other parties voted to change the House-rules and banded together to form a coalition-government that excluded the AfD.



In short: The AfD sabotaged their own chance to actually govern a state for their very first time, because clicks&views are more important to them.
