How about Dems abandoning the Abandon Harris supporters

What a nice Christmas gift?

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/very-troubling-leader-of-abandon-harris-movement-now-anxious-about-trump-appointees/ar-AA1wwb5j?ocid=msedgntp&pc=LCTS&cvid=e7083253bddb443387b6845fa8f3cc69&ei=27

In interviews with NBC News, prominent members of the "Abandon Harris" maintained they made the right decision to either not vote for Vice President Kamala Harris or cast their ballot for Donald Trump despite previously being in the Democrats' camp.

As NBC's Jillian Frankel reported, members of the movement withheld their votes from Harris primarily because of President Joe Biden's policies involving the war in Gaza and now they are hoping for the best after Trump assumes power although there is a great deal of uncertainty.

According to Uncommitted National Movement co-founder Layla Elabed, the sister of Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), "There’s been many ways in which Harris chose the path of Liz Cheney and the donor class on a range of issues, and abandoning working families in places like Dearborn, who make up the people Democrats claim to be fighting for. And I think at the same time, Trump came in and fed a community that was grieving and in despair with lies and false promises.”

Bryarr Misner, who worked as a campaign manager for the Abandon Harris campaign in Pittsburgh, admitted they voted for Trump, with NBC reporting, "He said the point of the Abandon Harris campaign was to punish the Democrats for supporting Israel during its war in Gaza, which the campaigners view as a genocide, and he hopes the Trump campaign will be more willing to negotiate with group leaders."

As Misner explained, "President Trump, he continuously came and he was in the community. While I don’t believe that he’s going to enact policies that will benefit the community, he at least showed that he was willing to show up for the community."

One leader of the movement did admit some doubts now that he has seen some of Donald Trump's Cabinet appointments.

"Farah Khan, a co-chair of the Abandon Harris campaign in Michigan, said she’s been a lifelong Democrat, but not anymore. She viewed voting against Harris as a moral issue as the war continues to unfold," telling NBC, "Anybody with their right mind would not go back to the Democrats, because they have not shown any change, and they’re going to have to work really, really hard to win their votes back."

Addressing how Trump appealed to the Muslim community, she stated, "He at least, at least came and spoke to the Muslims. He heard them and said, ‘Okay, I will finish. I will end the war in Middle East,’ even if he didn’t say, you know, a genocide, but he said he will bring peace. And that’s what the people wanted to hear, and that’s why he got the votes.”

She did express reservations over the president-elect's choice of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, an ardent evangelical Christian, as ambassador to Israel, and ex-Rep Tulsi Gabbard to oversee the Department of National Intelligence (DNI).

“It is very troubling. It’s worrisome. And some of his Cabinet picks, like Tulsi Gabbard and then Mike Huckabee, have made Muslims anxious, but we still have to wait and see how things pan out, because it’s too early to say anything about Trump, and we all know that Trump only listens [to] Trump,” Khan admitted.

End

Can I add my opinion? FU Rashida, Layla and Abandon Harris supporters. May you reap what you sowed.

Getting black women to vote for Palestinians over the horrors that are going to be inflicted on our community - here since 1619, leading movements, taking all of the shit sandwiches that AmeriKKKa has consistently thrown at us.

Like - if I have to choose between making sure they don't forcibly sterilize the young people in my family and Americans who are Muslim/Arab being rounded up -

I'm going to take care of my own family.

They have done this to Black Americans before. 5 of my great nieces (age 6 months to 15) are half latina.

https://bpr.studentorg.berkeley.edu/2020/11/04/americas-forgotten-history-of-forced-sterilization/

Throughout the 20th century, nearly 70,0000 people (overwhelmingly working-class women of color) were sterilized in over 30 states. Black women, Latina women, and Native American women were specifically targeted. From the 1930s to the 1970s, nearly one-third of the women in Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory, were coerced into sterilization when government officials claimed that Puerto Rico’s economy would benefit from a reduced population. Sterilization was so common that it became known as “La Operación (The Operation)” among Puerto Ricans.

I can't do both. It's not a reasonable request to ask me to care for others before the beautiful girls I share DNA with. Not a thing. Not happening.

It's happened to us before - and those folks that admitted to voting for Trump have a long row to hoe before they will get my empathy, care, or concern.

It didn't have to be this way.

I think maybe the Democrats need to stop trying to be all things to all people and start focusing more intentionally on our core message - which happens to be what Trump and Vance lied and said they cared about: poverty.

If the Democrats stop trying to please spoiled people and focus on eliminating poverty and increasing workers rights, maybe we'll start winning again.

And all the spoiled trust-fund babies can go back to throwing red paint on Jewish people's homes and voting Republican, just like their mommies and daddies do.

To be specific, what issue that matters to Black women should be abandoned in order to welcome back Muslim Arab voters?

Saying nice things about people on DU also has zero impact.

If you're serious about "welcoming back" Muslim Arabs who voted for Trump, the Democratic Party is going to have to make major concessions to this voting bloc. And it's a voting bloc that is already quite conservative. Many Muslim Arab voters don't like gay people, their religion is inherently deeply sexist, and many of them aren't too keen about Black people, either. So what are you going to give them?

If Trump makes things worse for Palestinians in Gaza, well, that might not happen... and if it does, there will be a big opportunity to continue grousing and complaining about a situation that doesn't really affect the lives of wealthy Muslim Arabs whose families have been living in Dearborn since the 1950s.

Trump can't legally deport citizens, and why would he deport citizens who voted for him?

Will the wealthy voters in Dearborn care if non-citizens are deported? Maybe? Will it really happen to their families? Unlikely.

It's the same miscalculation that the Democratic Party made about Latino voters. If you can vote, you're a citizen. Lots of Latino citizens are resentful of undocumented immigrants. And Hispanic/Latino is a very diverse identification. Puerto Ricans whose families have lived in New York for generations are insulted at the suggestion that they are the same group as undocumented people from
Mexico or Honduras. Cuban Americans in south Florida are not happy about undocumented people coming from communist nations. Mexican Americans in AZ who've been here for generations are not happy that others seem to be getting better deals.

Over and over, people forget that other people are just like us, with all our petty resentments and points of view. Humans are bad at seeing the big picture.

While their support seems illogical if you only look at the rhetoric, if you factor in death, destruction, and loss of territory, they did have it better under the previous admin.

Israel is achieving amazing success with their military operation right now and is well on the way from converting "the horrors of October 7th" into Greater Israel. They have dislocated an entire people and competing religion under the generally-accepted view of self-defense and are now free to rule and rebuild that land as they see fit. They will have a plentitude of newly impoverished people who will be desperate to work and unable to negotiate--already present on site. Very nicely executed.

Now don't get me wrong, if the Muslims were winning they would undoubtedly be quite happy with Biden for allowing them to openly engage.

108. Why Trump's hardline position on U.S. policy in Gaza matters
Thu Dec 26, 2024, 02:57 PM
Dec 2024

Donald Trump has a message for voters who disapprove of President Joe Biden’s Israel/Gaza policy from the left: The Republican intends to be vastly worse.

https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/trumps-hardline-position-us-policy-gaza-matters-rcna150391

In theory, Donald Trump might recognize the electoral opportunity and try to appeal to those who disapprove on the incumbent president’s Israel/Gaza policy from the left. In practice, the former president has an unsubtle message for Biden’s critics: If given the chance, the Republican intends to be vastly worse.

The Biden White House, for example, acknowledged this week that it is, as the Associated Press reported, “weighing measures to help Palestinians living in the United States who want to bring family from the war-torn region.”

Soon after, as Reuters reported, the presumptive GOP nominee shared his thoughts on the subject at a campaign rally.

Your towns and villages will now be accepting people from Gaza and various other places,” Trump said, eliciting boos from the crowd. “Under no circumstances shall we bring thousands of refugees.” Last week, Trump described the pro-Palestinian protests as driven by “tremendous hate” while asserting that the violence at a 2017 white nationalist rally with some Trump supporters in Charlottesville, Virginia, when he was president was small by comparison.

Note, at one of his campaign events yesterday, Trump appeared to goad his followers in Wisconsin into booing Palestinian refugees.

At the same event, the former president also vowed to restore and expand the Muslim ban he imposed during his first term......

The former president also endorsed ongoing Israeli military operations, saying, “We have to let Israel complete their war on terror. It’s a horrible thing, but they have to do it.” Trump added that Israel must “clean out the cancer.”

Let’s also not forget a New York Times report from March that said top members of Trump’s team want to expel Palestinians from Gaza.

It’s as if the Republican is going out of his way to alienate voters who, given their frustrations with Biden’s policy, might be inclined to give Trump a second look.

TFG will bring back the Muslim ban, give Bibi free reign to bomb and destroy Gaza and expel Palestinians from Gaza so that Jared can build his resorts.

Probably educated people who think with their emotions instead of their brain cells. Trump might end the war in Palestine by ending Palestine altogether allowing Israel to do whatever it wants turning it into a parking lot and building resorts there. They've subjected Palestine and themselves to the mercy of the Trump administration for at least 4 years all, because they wanted to punish Democrats. Congrats morons you played yourself.

U.S. elections are binary decisions and the demand for the Biden/Harris administration to reverse decades maybe 50 plus years of U.S foreign policy was completely unreasonable. Although we appreciate the support of Arab Americans they are not the only constituents we have and if Biden did what they demanded it may have cost us with other constituents. Gaza also isn't the only place in the world where genocide is going on either. Been happening in the Congo for longer and some of the people who were funding the genocide in Congo had their assets frozen by the Biden administration and you can bet those assets will be unfrozen by the Trump administration.

Worth mentioning I believe the people living in Palestine would've preferred anyone, but Trump and most Arab Americans Nationally supported Harris just some entitled activist in key swing States especially Michigan. Who possibly cost us this election if not directly then indirectly with their toxic influence.

in the first place… some were already here. This is one of the major mistakes the party has made in the past 10 years or more. Probably longer than that but the more recent elections I think were over the past 8 to 10 years.

When I saw this happening and other things that they were doing I was not happy with it obviously but I have no choice so I will keep voting for Democrats. I always vote for the candidate. I always vote for what is going to be the best result for everybody in my opinion. And I don’t complain if I don’t like the candidate like many do in this party I just vote for whoever it is. I don’t need to be excited etc. and that was true when I was 24 years old when I became a citizen and first started voting I voted in every election since then.
