In the Chinese Zodiac 2025 is the Year of the Snake.

In the Bible the snake traditionally represents Satan. The symbolism for the beginning of tsf's second presidency couldn't be more on point.

To twist Chinese culture around to mean something more self-serving for a Western audience by stamping a Christian interpretation over the indigenous tradition.

Not offended or anything. Just amused.

Plus ca change, etc.

In many non-Christian cultures, the snake represented rebirth. The ourobouros, or a snake eating it's own tail, is a symbol for the cycle of creation and destruction.

Origin
The ouroboros originated in ancient Egypt and Greece, and was adopted by Gnosticism, Hermeticism, and alchemy. The first known appearance of the ouroboros was in the 14th century BC in the tomb of Tutankhamun.
Meaning
The ouroboros symbolizes:
The circular process of alchemy
The unity of all things, material and spiritual
The infinity of time flowing back unto itself
The interconnectedness and infinity of the universe
Other uses
The ouroboros has been used in a variety of ways throughout the ages, including:
As a symbol of eternity
As a symbol of the possibility of infinite and ethical growth and scalability of the blockchain
As a mechanism to securely pass a ledger between participants

That's strictly a Judeo-Christian thing. Snakes have a dualistic nature in Chinese folklore; they can symbolize both negative and positive things; e.g. both malevolence and good fortune. It's culturally ignorant to impose a Western presumption on non-Western ideas.

often compares bad people to snakes. Such as he or she is such a snake.

I am not trying to undermine Chinese culture or promote the Bible over it. Just noting a snake is the form the devil takes in the biblical story.

I just think it's interesting a creature that some people who equate with slime, sneaking around, and slithering, fits the exact way I feel about tsf's personality. And it's the symbol of the year he takes office again.

so, because they slither instead of walking they scare people (and some are venomous). But they're just animals and animals are never evil - they just do what they evolved to do in order to survive. I like snakes (which are not slimy, by the way; they're smooth and cool). Snakes are just part of nature. Only humans are capable of the sort of evil Trump and his ilk represent.

Of course, I live in a part of the country where venomous ones are very scarce so I've never had a reason to be afraid of wild ones. Still, I think they're cool, and some are quite beautiful.

We built boxes with glass fronts. We had the four major poisonous snakes, which we caught, so the “kids” (we were 18) would recognize them.

Wood Snake is the element and totem for the year...

The sign of 巳 sì (snake) signifies introspection, subtle power, and transformative growth. It embodies a quiet yet potent energy capable of illuminating hidden paths and fostering deep emotional and spiritual understanding. Its strategic, resourceful nature makes it excellent for long-term growth, but must guard against volatility or over-sensitivity. In practice, 巳 sì inspires creativity, patience, and inner resilience, bringing light and warmth in a deliberate, steady way.

In this astrological system, the branch cycles every 12 years, so the snake last influenced us in 2013. The difference is the ‘flavour’ that the Heavenly Stem brings, which in this instance is wood. The last time we had a wood snake year was 1965 — the Vietnam War, the space race and the first space walk, Malcolm X’s assassination, the civil rights movement and the race riots, and the Beatles and the Rolling Stones tour the world.

Might be an okay year for shaking things up against the PTB

There are a few "Woods Cockroaches", but they are not very common and doubt if Native Americans would have noticed them as they are usually located within decaying wood and underground in ant nests. They also don't screech.

Almost every single roach specie in the US hitched a ride on ship, including the infamous "American cockroach".
