AARP getting money from United Health Care

was an interesting question in my mind and so this article popped up dated 1/11/24 that indicates AARP gets 4.95% of the money from every Supplement and Part D plan UHC sells via AARP membership. It indicates that AARP has received over $4 billion dollars to date from UHC. Snuggle, snuggle.

It should also be noted that the Wiki page for AARP notes that some "divisions" of AARP are "for profit" and not "non-profit". To what extent and what those activities are and what they generate in money isn't known unless you dive deep into their financials but seeing a "non-profit" snuggling in some "for profit" aspects does raise issues and concerns.

I have included a link showing 2023 revenue at $1.6 billion dollars or $286,174.00 per employee of the organization. That is a fabulous "productivity" number. The Wiki page also indicates that the CEO travels First Class on any flight over 90 minutes. Of course. Poor thing shouldn't be burdened with having to spend extended time on the plane in the same class as most of the AARP members.

to come out with a detailed healthcare reform plan in preparation of upcoming mid-terms.

Pointing fingers at the other party isn't going to get us anywhere.

6. Unfortunately, true. Was just posting the following on another thread--

I believe one reason Congress doesn't approve Medicare-for-All is that they'd rather people who are unfortunately likely to die/suffer anyway (ie, Stage 4 cancer) blaming them, rather than insurance companies for not wanting to spend every possible dollar on treatment that has little chance of success.

8. True too. Opensecrets indicates UHC donated considerably more to Democrats that GOPers. Was it to help them win, or

keep them doing little beyond offering platitudes.

It's really disgusting.
