Based on how quickly Trump jumped on the immigrant theory, is it possible that the patriot was following someone's order to create an event for Trump so he could exploit the situation?
Frankly, it makes as much sense as anything else would.

(34,294 posts)I think he was probably super depressed and I think that's the only way he could think of to get attention.
He was having relationship issues.
Not everything is politics and it goes low on the totem poll when major depression sets in.
A few weeks before my dad died in 2016, he still hadn't mailed in his mail ballot. He was up and about. He collapsed before he could mail in his ballot. He was a die hard Republican. However, I guess he wasn't feeling up to voting.
If I was that depressed, I probably wouldn't care all that much about politics on my way out.
I hope I make sense.

Explain why this guy killed himself in front of the courthouse where Trump's trial was held?
It turns out he was schizophrenic and wrote all over the walls. He held up signs decrying Trump, Clinton and Biden. In the end he hated everyone, but killed himself in front of the Trump trial.
Also, this guy who killed himself in LV removed his pro-Trump FB posts recently. Also, it's his uncle speaking about him. I think the uncle is being a bit defensive and is trying to portray him as someone who "wouldn't hurt Trump". I don't dwelve all that much into my nieces and nephew's political leanings. Maybe he hadn't discussed politics with his uncle in the days leading up to his death? How often did they see each other?

Unless there is some political manifesto, I'm gonna assume there was something going on in his personal life. The other day, he contacted an ex GF

(81,266 posts)1. motivation for the suicide
2. suicide method
3. location of death
I never said the motivation was necessarily political.
We don't know that, and yes it could be personal.
But the location and manner of suicide are different from motivation.
They may be something political about the location.
No, not all people who commit suicide are selfish.
There are many different motivations and reasons.
These can be complex situations and sometimes and it takes awhile to figure it all out.
I have worked on such cases.

(15,399 posts)The PTSD, anguish or self-hate the depression fog was covering up suddenly becomes clear to the patient and they can't hide from it anymore. It hurts too much to look in the mirror of the soul.
So they kill themselves.
Treatment without therapy can be deadly.

(14,272 posts)Until recently he was known as a MAGA "patriot", along with his family. Recently, since the election, TSF has teamed with Musk instead of the "America First" priority many of his followers believed he held. This shocker has likely caused cracks in the patriotism many of his followers held. The fact that this distressed active-duty Green Beret rented a cybertruck (Musk) to blow up in front of a Trump property (TSF), along with himself, is a crafted message.
His marriage and other issues may have had little to do with it.

(47,423 posts)He rented a Tesla and blew it up in front of Trump tower, so seems like he was upset at something involving Trump and Musk.
What I think. Maybe he was angry that Trump has brought musk in to his team. Musk who came to this country on a student visa, then dropped out of college after a few months in. Then he wasnt deported to his home country as he should have been when he dropped out of college. Makes me angry too, but not enough to do what that guy did.

(3,041 posts)I work with Vets every day and many times the politics just simply do not matter.
If anything, I'd be more worried about the mental health of our vets. There are so many out there that have suffered, and they are getting younger and younger.
Perhaps he wanted to make a statement, but not the statement we think it may be. We need to take care of our vets...PERIOD,

(3,041 posts)But if true, people have a tendency to blame others for what they did. Maybe he was angry at Trump for what he himself did (mess around). Trump was his idol. He was really into it. There could be a number of things he did or believed that were a consequence of his adulation. Maybe his wife and he had arguments about it.
The fact that he rented a Tesla: his feelings extended somehow toward Elon too. IT'S A CULT and maybe his thoughts were not so devotional after his breakup.

(60,320 posts)I think he probably felt betrayed by tRump and Muck over the breaking of his campaign promise. A lot of maga is mad about it. Some are now angry enough to oppose tRump.
So, having decided to end his life, he chose to make a statement in the process. The statement wasn't the main purpose but a two-fer, so to speak.

(7,191 posts)They say the MAGATS and the Muskovites are at war over the visa issue....
Maybe he's the first casualty of that war - showing his contempt for Musk, but also showing his disillusionment with Trump for siding with Musk on the issue....

(10,635 posts)(true or not, not sure) but his brother (allegedly) said Matthew thought that Trump was the greatest thing ever.
If true, why kill yourself in front of one of his hotels, using a Tesla? To show your admiration for Trump? I don't get it. Maybe they will eventually find something written by Matthew that puts the pieces together.
Is this what the next 4 years are going to be like?

(54,906 posts)Seppuku (切腹, lit. 'cutting [the] belly'), also called harakiri (腹切り, lit. 'abdomen/belly cutting', a native Japanese kun reading), is a form of Japanese ritualistic suicide by disembowelment. It was originally reserved for samurai in their code of honour, but was also practised by other Japanese people during the Shōwa era[1][2] (particularly officers near the end of World War II) to restore honour for themselves or for their families.[3][4][5]
As a samurai practice, seppuku was used voluntarily by samurai to die with honour rather than fall into the hands of their enemies (and likely be tortured), as a form of capital punishment for samurai who had committed serious offences, or performed because they had brought shame to themselves.
