Meta will be making major changes to its content moderation policy on Facebook and Instagram, getting rid of fact checkers and replacing them with user-generated “community notes,” similar to Elon Musk’s X, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced Tuesday.

Meta’s newly appointed Chief of Global Affairs Joel Kaplan told Fox on Tuesday that Meta’s partnerships with third-party fact checkers were “well intentioned at the outset but there’s just been too much political bias in what they choose to fact check and how.”

The announcement comes amid a broader apparent ideological shift to the right within Meta’s top ranks, and as Zuckerberg seeks to improve his relationship with Trump before the president-elect takes office later this month. Just one day earlier, Meta announced Trump ally and UFC CEO Dana White would join its board, along with two other new directors. Meta has also said it will donate $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund, and that Zuckerberg wants to take an “active role” in tech policy discussions.

Kaplan, a prominent Republican who was elevated to the company’s top policy job last week, acknowledged that the Tuesday announcement is directly related to the changing administration.

1. Once they rid public discourse of truth, it will all be like religion - a matter of belief.

Bezos, Cook, Zuckerberg, et al lost a bet.

That wager was Trump would lose in 2024. True, a sucker’s bet with Pootie and President Musk handling the count.

One part of it was the $1,000,000 to The Diaper Baron’s Inauguration Fund. Which of course, is only a humiliating means to launder it directly into his pocket.

There were undoubtedly other concessions… I can easily imagine that losing a bet to Trump would mean that he feels entitled to own you forevermore. Sort of like, SATAN.

They have more money to lose than us personally. They are doing whatever they can to avoid getting into his crosshairs.

..and getting called out their nonsense is the "bias" they complain about. Among my Facebook "friends," the ones who complain the most about fact-checking are usually the biggest purveyors of utter bullshit: "proof of Kamala Harris wearing a microphone disguised as an earring during the Presidential debate; photoshopped images of Obama dressed as a Blank Panther, etc, etc.. It's exhausting.
