He overwhelms us with shiny objects that the media obediently chases. Then, when he hopes we won't notice, one of Project 2025 programs is enacted.

(25,402 posts)There will be a lot of incentives for Republican opponents to flip to a loyalist stance. I doubt there's more than a handful in either chamber who offer even nominal opposition, and those can be bribed or threatened to bend the knee as needed. They didn't make it this far as Republicans without compromising their integrity. Hell, Trump may have direct kompromat on most of them.
"Lame duck" applies to individual office holders impacted by term limits. What we're seeing now is the start of a generational dynasty in which one's political survivability ties directly to the quality of one's obedient boot-licking.
Nonetheless, I must applaud your sunny optimism. Once milled and refined, it will make a tasty treat for the incoming oligarchs.

(30,305 posts)it will require. No one's yet "opposed" it, because it's yet to be proposed due to Biden still occupying the Oval Office.
You say there will be "a lot of incentives for Republican opponents to flip loyalist", but you don't seem to see that there are lots of opportunities to please one's constituents over Trump when your term extends beyond his..
I don't understand your dismissal of the effects of Trump's term limits since he's clearly subject to them via the Constitution...As for our supposedly "seeing the start of a generational dynasty", I'd have to correct you there..We're not "seeing" anything starting, we're simply hearing about a MAGA fever dream with a zero chance of success. You need to remember that Trump won by only the slightest of margins -- 1.5 percentage points...Such tiny numbers do NOT a "mandate" make...Another thing worth remembering is that Trump doesn't always win..His endorsed candidates frequently fail, and even the Supreme Court, not to mention the lower courts, have ruled against him and will continue do so when they see fit.
I'm afraid I can't applaud your pessimism, though I'm sure It's sweet smell of surrender is something the aforementioned oligarchs would enjoy.
