Chris Murphy 🟧 @ChrisMurphyCTL Feels pretty simple to me. He talks about invading Greenland

Feels pretty simple to me. He talks about invading Greenland and Panama to distract you and the media from the THEFT that's about to happen right under you eyes - the giant tax cut for his billionaire and corporate friends, paid for by massive cuts to Medicare and Medicaid.

NEW: Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) dismisses Democratic "freakouts" over Trump's proposal to acquire Greenland.

"It's a responsible conversation [...] Remember the Louisiana Purchase? I think Alaska was a pretty great deal, too."

"I mean - [I'm] open to having all kinds of conversations. It's not helpful to freak out. Some things might work out, some may not."

"He hasn't even taken office [until] 2 weeks... we really need to pace ourselves, if we're going to freak out over every tweet."

I'm unaware Senator Murphy has freaked out about anything during his career. I do see he is calling out Trump's MO.

He doesn't have to agree with every boneheaded Trump idea in order to "appeal" to his voters in Pennsylvania. Sometimes, voters actually appreciate a principled stand, rather than obvious capitulation and ass kissing

Bills-
H.R.221 — 119th Congress (2025-2026) To abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
H.R.218 — 119th Congress (2025-2026) To authorize State enforcement of immigration laws, and for other purposes.
H.R.191 — 119th Congress (2025-2026) To repeal the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.
H.R.190 — 119th Congress (2025-2026) To provide for expedited removal of certain illegal aliens.
H.R.142 — 119th Congress (2025-2026) To amend chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, to provide that major rules of the executive branch shall have no force or effect unless a joint resolution of approval is enacted into law. (I'm no lawyer, but this may be to summarily undo Biden's executive orders, but prolly has a carve out for their god emperor?)

Anyhow, there are 90+ bills currently sponsored by Biggs.

9. Is this trumps F.U. to NATO
Wed Jan 8, 2025, 09:39 AM
Jan 2025

Denmark is part of NATO. Under the NATO charter, Article 5 states:

The Article 5 wording is vague. It states that an attack against one member “shall be considered an attack against them all.” What is quoted less often is that each member state only has an obligation to take “such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force.”

Now article 5 has only been invoked once in history; following the September 11th attacks in 2001. At that time NATO rallied to the defense of the US in the Global War on Terror.

Does the rest of NATO just sit by while one of its member countries (Greenland which is part of Denmark) gets invaded?

Trump is playing with fire here. He is like a child playing with matches.

hence NATO territory being in danger and requiring intervention and being made a US protectorate, so Trump and the US would strong-arm other NATO members to join in his assault, and go solo if they didn't while chiding them for being lily-livered.

If it sounds Putinesque, that's because it is.
