Carbon Beach, Malibu is ... carbon.

Carbon Beach, better known as Billionaires Beach, has been razed by the Palisades' wildfire. Trump Superdonor, Larry Ellison, has been buying up Malibu beachfront properties. He owns ten. The sellers are probably counting their blessings.

I dread all the multimillionaires now spreading out into neighboring states and buying up properties to replace what they've lost. Gonna put a lot of pressure on an already-out-of-control housing market.

Or live in space stations or Mars.

These people are used to always getting what they want.

They never realized that the most valuable resources are the planet and the people on it.
They are destroying both those resources.

They always thought their wealth was the most important thing in life.

Climate change will have repercussions none
of the Trump billionaires can foresee because
they either don't believe in it or don't understand
it.

They don't think they need to care so long as
they keep making money, but they are in for a
big shock down the line.

When food and water become the currency, those who know how to procure and sustain them will be wealthy. Humanity is not addressing what’s happening with a fraction of the diligence and sacrifice required to keep this from becoming reality. At this late juncture, I can see no way I can be wrong, though, I hope like hell I am.

They want it all, now.

They knew what is coming down the pike and they figure if a tiny handful of people own the planet
and everything on and in it, they will be able to hang on longer than anyone else.

So they are amassing huge futures to buy their way out of climate change consequences.
They have no intention of paying one dime to stop climate change, they are letting it happen and hope they
can ride it out.

Or depend upon Musk and the US taxpayer to build space stations, or colonies on Mars or the Moon.

Scientists have told us, but those with an interest
in fostering denial just have to keep it coming from
white Republicans, who are notoriously stupid and
beholden to the wealthy...

Thus the entire Republican party is in for a real
shock, since obviously white makes right is going
to go very wrong.

I think it's interesting the way so many people have
latched onto the white authoritarianism that has caused
this mess in the first place.

That's why I'm always saying that our collective psyche,
with no exceptions, is bascially fascist.

How many years has it been since Malibu burned down? When will the next one happen? 1 year, 5 years? 10 years, 20 years?

It's kinda like those of us who live on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. There WILL be a hurricane, but when and how strong.

Climate change is causing a lot of turmoil, but they probably don't care.

The only point in buying insurance is if the catastrophic risk would wipe you out. Like the average middle class family with a house should buy insurance. But if a billionaire like Ellison is buying up houses they should not waste money on insurance, because even if a hundred $10 million dollar homes get wiped out in one go (extremely unlikely and not even the case here), that's a billion dollars and it would not wipe Ellison out.

I'm on a bluff overlooking the most ornery self-centered out of town beach home owners.

They block access to the beach despite the largest ever fine by the Coastal Commission.

In California, the beaches belong to the people and beachfront homes need to disappear, one way is to prohibit rebuilding.

Sorry/not sorry if others think private property rights trump public access.

Nice , new properties without spending any of their own money. They were likely going to raze whatever was there to begin with and build resorts or some such stuff. Maybe luxury condos or apartments. The fire did them a favor.

Oligarchs who occupy DC think we're not in this together.

Good thing California, 5th biggest economy on the planet, shows a huge budget SURPLUS this year. It's going to need it.

The 99% might finally come to see they'll need Gov. Gavin Newsom to run this country in 2028;
hopefully they won't learn too late that we all really are in this together.
