To point out what the right wing is saying is fine. But to just accept it and not push back on it is effectively doing the right wing's job of spreading disinformation for them.

I am concerned about the welfare of the people, animals, etc in the way of the fire. I'm not thinking about a human to blame for the this tragedy.

I refuse to jump on this bandwagon seeking someone to blame rightly or wrongly.

"The incoming president wasted no time in laying the blame for simultaneous wildfires raging in the Los Angeles area that have so far killed at least five people...Trump slammed “the gross incompetence and mismanagement of the Biden/Newscum Duo"...He claimed that California environmental policies that divert fresh water to preserve wetlands and wildlife were to blame for hydrants running dry. “I will demand that this incompetent governor allow beautiful, clean, fresh water to FLOW INTO CALIFORNIA! He is the blame for this,” Trump wrote as part of a flurry of social media posts, later writing that Newsom should resign."

In California, we live with the threat and reality of wildfires every year. We all know it’s a possibility due to climate change, natural ecosystem, and building in natural areas. Remember, Republicans keep cutting help to California.

tragedy on DU. Caruso, the wealthy real estate developer who ran for Mayor of Los Angeles and lost, has been giving interviews to whoever will accept him, making this point and blasting the mayor for being on an overseas trip. His daughter lost her home in the Palisades, which is very sad. But many people think his criticism is simplistic, self-serving and politically motivated.

Yes, people will talk about this fire for some time--at least until the next catastrophic wildfire, which could be a week or a month from now.

coupled with the fact that we cannot build wood structures ( or mostly wood ) AND put those structures in the middle of forested areas that are subject to Santa Ana winds ( down slope and offshore direction ). We will need to change where we can live and how we build things.

Sadly because I want to live with trees all around my house with lots of space to the next neighbor too... but with climate change... we can not do this anymore.

Just like we cannot build homes close to the ocean in the Gulf ( of MEXICO ) or along the southern east coast of the USA either.

January is the middle of the California "wet" season... but LA has had NO significant rain this season.

What has changed? Reliable patterns of seasonal rains have been completely disrupted by our warming planet. Just like western North Carolina doesn't usually ( or ever ) have a hurricane rain itself out over Asheville in the past either.

Predictable? YUP... all these events have BEEN predicted by Climate scientists for 30 years now. But people didn't listen. Many still are not listening. Not that we would have been able to depopulate these areas or even cut all the trees and brush down in the burn areas just like we never stopped people from building homes ( or even rebuilding them ) in the danger zones.

Every person that MAGA believes might run for POTUS in 28 will be relentlessly criticized until then. There is a reason Hillary Clinton called them deplorable. Because they are deplorable. People are still in harms way and deplorables think they can use it for their own personal gain. It's gross.
