Right wing messaging

Republicans have consistently excelled at crafting and disseminating their messaging. In the past, figures like Rush Limbaugh and his imitators would push narratives that would gain traction through platforms like Drudge Report, then Fox News, before eventually seeping into mainstream media. While this approach worked, it was relatively slower in capturing public attention. However, with the rise of social media and far-right influencers, the process has become much quicker, allowing their narratives to reach mainstream media and the public almost instantly. The recent coverage of the LA fires is a prime example. Meanwhile, Democrats seem to lag behind, often struggling to respond effectively to attacks, even when those attacks are riddled with lies and misinformation.

A disaster so dramatic is tempting to coattail with irrelevant agenda items.

and available to counter the 24/7 barrage of lies. I’ve begged them to do it since Clinton was in office. They seem to think the facts will always rise to the top on their own. They seem to be the last Democrats in America who haven’t realized what corporate takeovers of mass media has meant for the US.

The Media Matters group (founded by David Brock) was supposed to be the progressive media think tank that saved us, and while they continue to do yeoman's work battling the daily right-wing lies and spin, it's clear that there need to be more organizations like them. If I could have one more wish, it would be that the newer versions of MM were even better tuned to social media and the instant-response messaging that is so necessary today.

I love this book by Brian Tyler Cohen. He speaks about the need for building a progressive media eco-system like the right has. It was a decades long project for them, and we need to do the same. They gaslight us calling Main Stream Media "Liberal media" when it clearly is not-it is corporate media, with a "Both Sides" focus that renders truth inoperable. Meanwhile, Fox, OANN, Newsmax, Podcasts, X, and even the big Tech places are purveyors of right wing messaging (and Russian propaganda)/Trump Cultists gathering places.

Nope. The media Does NOT amplify democratic messages. Dems aren’t failing.
The L A Times, Washington Post and other media is owned by billionaires.

I’m sick of people blaming Democrats. This country is full of seditious conspirators who are winning because they’ve convinced the country that democracy needs to be smashed and replaced with a Felon and a criminal syndicate of billionaires.

Just flood the feeds with the most outrageous lies and innuendo about MAGA politicians. Who cares if it is true? The truth means zero at this point in time.

Think. Again.

The people who would vote for such unqualified people don't really care what's true or not.

We need to start feeding their very predictable emotional reactions just like the nazi's do.

This is all too dangerous, once we wrestle the levers of power back from the nazis, then we can worry about setting the record straight.

I can't count the number of times I have heard Democrats respond to Reich-wing BS about these devastating fires with stuff like:

- "we need to investigate the response to ensure this doesn't happen in the future."

- "I don't want to politicize this issue, but we need a full accounting....."

- "we need to look into and prioritize...."

Look, it's too late to not politicize this. We need to understand that the Reich began politicizing this event before the first blade of chaperal caught fire.

It was ALWAYS going to be politicized, because there is no limit to the tragedies Retrumplicans will exploit for political power.

Wanting to find out and study how to prevent and respond to these fires is the right thing to do. It's what thoughtful, reasonable and professional people would do....but

If we were living in thoughtful, reasonable and professional times, Donnie Dipshit wouldn't be two weeks from getting the nuclear codes!

Responding with; "it needs to be looked into" helps validate every MAGAt conspiracy theory from Pizza Gate to Voter Fraud to "firetrucks delayed in Sacramento for emission checks".

I think that the best lesson the Democratic Party can learn is that the "press" and "social media" aren't going to get the truth out there.

Walter Cronkite isn't walking through that door, and even if he did, he'd be up against a billion drunk uncles, tic-toc videos and UFC-bro hosted Podcasts.

Stop feeding the monster. Punch it in the throat.
