Raw Story: 'The humiliation will escalate': Rubio predicted to last less than a year under Trump

Raw Story - 'The humiliation will escalate': Rubio predicted to last less than a year under Trump

Many career diplomats believe that Marco Rubio, the man tapped by President-elect Donald Trump to be secretary of state, is facing a grim future should he gain Senate confirmation.

In interviews with Politico, many diplomats predicted that Rubio would last two years on the job at most, with many going so far as to say that he would be out in less than a year.

At issue is the fact that Rubio is already being undermined by many of his purported allies in Trump's orbit, and these officials argued that they would waste no time in launching a concerted campaign to undermine him right from the start.

In fact, Politico writes that the only way for Rubio to hang on longer than expected is to have a high tolerance for personal "abuse" from the incoming president.

“Rubio will be fairly hamstrung and will feel sidelined and frustrated,” one diplomat told the publication. “If he is surly or complains, the humiliation will escalate and then he will be fired. If he sucks it up, takes the humiliation and smiles through gritted teeth, he will survive until someone else whispers in Trump’s ear and angles for his job.”

2. I predict that none of these nominations matter that much, because inside of a year more than half of them

Will be replaced with “acting“. Trump can’t stand for anything to stay on and even keel for very long. I can’t imagine Hegseth not pissing him off, and Rubio. I liked when Senator Slotkin said the nominee was genuflecting

8. Yep, they won't have any autonomy to run their departments as they see fit.

Their only duties will be to constantly praise Trump’s genius and leadership, and obsessively monitor Trump’s social media posts, rallies and public statements to parrot Donny’s lunatic ideas about what their departments should be doing.

5. The whole point of Rubio's nomination was to lure him out of his Senate seat...

Trump could give a rat's ass about the entire State Department as he so clearly demonstrated in the Alpha version of his installation.

A senate seat along with any cabinet position or ambassadorship are merely spoils to be handed out and re-handed out as the bids come in.

6. I see Rubio as the last desperate attempt by neo-cons to start a war with Iran.

It'll probably not work, and he'll be out in a year or so.
