(7,195 posts)Should be entertaining, especially for the people sitting behind him, where they'll see the bald strip all the way down the back of his head (reference the Bucks County, PA, assassination photos).
Maybe he'll have to wear a MAGA hat....

(26,891 posts)We'd have thought it'd be at least 10°f - 20°f warmer than in NYC!
We still had a great ime!

(102,871 posts)+26F is not an arctic blast. Now if it was somewhere below 0, that could qualify.

(102,871 posts)When I talk to family in Southern California and they tell me how cold it was at +45F I snicker and tell them how the daytime high for me was 0.

(26,891 posts)When I was in DC for The Clinton's American Craft Xmas Theme for the trees in the WH in '93; they had a snow storm. About 1/4" inch when I left around 10AM [staying w a conection to relatives] to go to what I was going to see.
By the time I hit The Metro around 3PM it was suddenly like 5PM Rush Hour in NYC!
They had sent all Non-essential Fed workers home. Maybe by then it was 2+" inches. I laughed to myself.
Understandably, hardly anyone had snow boots, proper tires for their cars, etc.

(102,871 posts)In a mountain village about a hundred miles from where I am now and it would get really cold, like -20F to -50F. I saw -50F twice while I lived there. It's definitely a community thing when the power goes out all day at -18F.
I'm too old for that stuff now and I have to admit I am thankful to be able to say that!
Could do with a little bit warmer climate but it's not that bad here right now so I'll take it for now.

(102,871 posts)And the memories are good.
Funny how extreme conditions make people more likely to get along. Just like the fire scene in LA, it doesn't matter if your politics or religion aren't the same, you still pull your neighbor or the town drunk out of the snowbank and get them to a warm place if you're the first one to find them... or call the ambulance.
Living there all those years was certainly an experience of a lifetime and that's how I'll remember it.

(130,572 posts)especially if it's windy, it will be a miserable, damp cold, and the denizens aren't used to it and probably most of them don't have the sort of clothes that would keep them warm while standing around outside. They won't have warm boots or hats and Melanoma will be wearing some hideous high-fashion coat that won't keep the silicone in her kidneys from freezing.
2naSalit
(102,871 posts)You and I are in the known cold regions and it's true, with no wind +27F is downright balmy, almost too warm for skiing.
I do hope there's serious freeze for the unauguration.

(26,049 posts)here in western NY.
But I'm guessing that the high won't be reached until around 3 pm. At noon it might be around 20°.

(102,871 posts)It was going to be -20F, now that would be the kind of welcome that fuckhead deserves.

(26,891 posts)If all those little flags they handed out had been fitted with some yet-to-be invented do-dab attacted so by waving the flag mild heat was generated- we'd have been as comfortable physically as we were emotionally happy!
My sis and were off to the side near the carousel. It was "sea of little flags" waving away! 😄 👍

(4,755 posts)We were snug as bugs in our sailing foul weather gear! 🤣😁 I even had a handful of those foil emergency blankets in my pockets. Always prepared for the worst LOL! It turned out that we were standing by three young women, college age or younger and they were dressed in little wool coats and dress shoes and it wasnt long until they started to shiver! We had them wrapped up like burritos in no time! It was a great crowd and the energy was amazing! Love and hugs to you!💗💗🙏🏼
electric_blue68
(26,891 posts)A friend of mine would know about that (she sails).
Ah, the "aluminum blankets"!
If you're near the end of The Marathon here in NYC in Nov (the south west entrance to Central Park) towards the late afternoon, early evening when it's already getting dark; you'll see the runners who've gone into CP to finish now walking out again to leave.
They're often wrapped up in the aluminum blankets! So I've seen those in person.
Glad you helped those underdressed college age kids out. 👍

Of course, given recent history and influence from the devil's luck, the forecast is wrong and weather on the 20th will be sunny and pleasant, with highs in the 40s.
