(37,613 posts)That's sort of (1). I mean people labored, they're worth their pay. Setting up and taking down in the absence of use is still setting up and taking down.
The inauguration includes a lot of post-swearing-in crap, as well, and probably the lion's share of the expenses. Balls, parties, festivities. The WH (re)decoration is privately funded, IIRC, and is the same funding source.
Who knows what gold lame costs these days.

(60,436 posts)For an extra $250,000 they can get a photoshopped pic of themselves aside Trump in the Capitol rotunda. Thats gotta be worth something, doesnt it?
Just in case that whole scenario comes across as too credible, I made it up. I did not get it from Fox Noise or some equally useless propaganda factory.

(1,994 posts)The felon and others in his circle have ever been held accountable as to what happened to the millions he raked in for his last inauguration in 2017 and was never spent. Nobody got reimbursed back then and nobody will this time either. Hes a con, always has been, always will be.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
