I Bought a new Desktop Computer today.

Went to the local Best Buy and purchased a nice HP Pavillion for $649.00 (reg price $1150.00). Figured they may double tomorrow after Shithead does his Day One tariff thingie.
Like a lot of you I plan to go underground for 2 years. Will support local Dem activities (deep-red Indiana) and try to keep the Party alive here.

But I do like to do amateur photography and videography, and the latter can take up a ton of space in 4k.

Modern games also use huge amounts of data.

I guess I have around 50 games from Steam that have been bought and downloaded over the years. Some are 75+ gb's a piece.

Filming a 20 minute video in 4k also takes up a lot of space. I like to do outdoor video shots of scenery, such as by the ocean, the piers, or even local historical geographic locations.

Just about everything I have ever written.

My life is well documented. I am the gate keeper to my inner soul.

Apples & oranges. Also please don't tell me that "I have 40 years or engineering files" was used as a superior tactic to make me feel inferior because it didn't work.

I would hope that you would have the basic understanding on what type of files hold how much bytes/megabytes/gigabytes.

One of my favorite games has 75 gigabytes. That's just one game.

Have a nice evening.

I plan to try for a refurbished machine by Dell or HP to go cheaply, and hopefully escape tariffs by buying a used machine (although across the board price increases could still affect the used markets a little as well, indirectly).

When the m4 macmini came out in December I upgraded to the basic model and added 1tb of external nvme ssd to one of the rear Thunderbolt ports.
I think I'm good to go for 10-15 years unless I'm again seduced by a must-have upgrade.
