The long-running coup is now complete. They stole it fair and square.
I cannot but think that it would be naive to believe that after four years of bellowing about how the election was stolen from him, that he would not cheat and steal and do everything within his power to never lose again.
What freedoms have we lost? Are you afraid to speak up? Do you have freedom from fear?
Do you think the next election will be fair and square? Do you assume there will be an election two years from now and the results will be different?
We still have the freedom to assemble, as far as I know?

(26,237 posts)glaring so, reminding all of us to not be afraid of speaking out, and doing other things to reaffirm our rights.
For every tRUMP nutso, there are probably 2 or more 'sane' people/of us, still standing, still on the side of liberty, supporting our freedom of speech, and all of the rest of our rights expressed in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, as well as the Constitutional Amendments.
Screw the nutso tRUMP fanatics. As far as I'm concerned, they can crawl back underneath the toll bridge and rot.

(1,690 posts)Looking at the executive orders signed, I think most of them are bad, but none of them are rights threatening. You could argue the environmental stuff, but that's mitigated by the fact that much of it is being driven by the market at this point. Coal's not really coming back no matter what, people will still be buying more energy efficient options.

(2,145 posts)There will be primaries for that election starting over the next 12 months or so.
Democrats will likely take the House in those elections, and possibly the Senate.
I don't believe any of the catastrophication going on around here. I heard a lot of them before 2020 as well, and none of them came to pass.

(8,447 posts)Democrats have not proven they have a cohesive message or the ability to beat Trump. They bumbled and stumbled to humiliating loses in 16 and 24. You have half the Dem group bending the knee to Trump. The media is finished and the Dems should have been railing against corruption of money in politics and how the oligarchs WERE running the show, yet too many themselves were tied to the model. No one is inspired by whatever the Democrats are saying at this time. Whether it's hate, stupidity, ignorance, the other side sucks, trans gen is bad whatever, Trump inspired his base and a ton of people, including many who voted for Biden. I don't get it either, but we are heading for dark times unless the Dems can find a LEGIT person, not a fucking carnival clown or "celeb", someone who walks the walk and talks the talk from our side the same way Maggot does on their side.
Time to rant and rail against "the conservative media" 24/7
Time to chastise and demonize the word Conservative
Use the words fascist or maybe not the word, but the ugly parts of it
Harris ran a "nice campaign", lets all sit around the camp fire and sing fire side songs, she is gonna listen to Republicans and play nice with them. Trump says Dems are enemy of the state. Who wins? Trump.
This is a new game.
Also, will the Dems get rid of these fucking dinosaurs leading the party. Yet another fail.

(23,044 posts)Day one, he leaped this same kind of giant leap backward, and each time rwjn get in power, they take our country another giant leap backward. It is like watching our country fall over the cliff and bounce over and over on the way down.
I was never worried for myself. I worry about every group that is vulnerable, all of the rights that were recognized and are now denied, the erosion of safety and security. I wanted freedom from that worry, but I won't get it.
I might not lose any freedoms myself. I have friends who might lose their rights - rights to a family life, rights to living and working in this country, raising their families here. I'm cynical enough to assume that even if they married when the Marriage Equality Act or Respect for Marriage Act became laws of the land, my LGBTQ+ friends may lose their spouses and children, my friends of different nationalities will be caught in roundups, my friend of color will be slaughtered with no care about their humanity. I can wear a safety pin and donate, and smile at anyone who might appreciate a friendly face. I don't know what I can do to make the U.S. once again identifiable as my country.
Having the person sitting in the oval office releasing 1500 felons is overwhelming and if any one thing males me fear what is in store, it is that.
