WHO on US intent to withdraw

21 January 2025 Statement Geneva

The World Health Organization regrets the announcement that the United States of America intends to withdraw from the Organization.

WHO plays a crucial role in protecting the health and security of the world’s people, including Americans, by addressing the root causes of disease, building stronger health systems, and detecting, preventing and responding to health emergencies, including disease outbreaks, often in dangerous places where others cannot go.

The United States was a founding member of WHO in 1948 and has participated in shaping and governing WHO’s work ever since, alongside 193 other Member States, including through its active participation in the World Health Assembly and Executive Board. For over seven decades, WHO and the USA have saved countless lives and protected Americans and all people from health threats. Together, we ended smallpox, and together we have brought polio to the brink of eradication. American institutions have contributed to and benefited from membership of WHO ...

20 January 2025

Dodoma – Tanzania today confirmed an outbreak of Marburg virus disease in the northwestern Kagera region after one case tested positive for the virus following investigations and laboratory analysis of suspected cases of the disease.

President of the Republic of Tanzania, Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, made the announcement during a press briefing alongside World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in the country’s administrative capital Dodoma.

“Laboratory tests conducted at Kabaile Mobile Laboratory in Kagera and later confirmed in Dar es Salaam identified one patient as being infected with the Marburg virus. Fortunately, the remaining suspected patients tested negative,” the president said. “We have demonstrated in the past our ability to contain a similar outbreak and are determined to do the same this time around” ...

Jan 2025

20 January 2025

On 7 January 2025, the International Health Regulations National Focal Point for the Plurinational State of Bolivia notified WHO of a laboratory-confirmed case of Chapare virus infection in an adult male from La Paz Department. Chapare haemorrhagic fever is an acute viral illness caused by Chapare virus. The virus was first identified in 2003 in Bolivia and has been associated with five documented outbreaks to date, all occurring within the country. These outbreaks have primarily affected rural areas in the La Paz Department, with the most recent case. There is no significant risk of international spread of the disease, as person-to-person transmission of the Chapare virus is possible but remains rare in the general population. As of 13 January 2025, no secondary cases have been reported, and all contacts remain without symptoms. Public health measures, such as disinfection and rodent control, have been implemented ...

That's why we're pulling out, Trump and the Nazi Party he leads don't want to help developing countries anymore.

Like with most areas the US cedes leadership and power in, China will step in to fill the void and strengthen their relationships with developing countries for eventual economic domination of.

Big city homeless camps and extreme rural poverty have never been an anomaly.

It seems the wealthy fascists just want all the poor people to die.

Pandemics don't work that way. From the perspective of a killer bacterium or virus we are all the same meat, rich or poor. Nobody lives in complete isolation from the rest of the world.

In fact, most of their work is around other things. They help with clean water, nutrition, and childhood development. They have programs for stopping the spread of HIV, providing health care for women and infants, stopping outbreaks like Cholera, Dengue Fever, and Molaria. They help kids in devloping areas get needed surgeries and treatments. They coordinate programs for the blind and the deaf. On and on, they're basically a giant charity that gets help to hundreds of millions of people in need. They even coordinate famine relief. The have programs for elder care.

Only the Red Cross is a larger relief organization globally than the WHO.

With their isolationism, they can't recognize that helping developing nations with their health problems creates better and more prosperous trading partners and a better global economy in the long run. But as I said, China will fill the gap and reap the benefits, but they will do so with more strings attached to control these countries.

Trump made a unilateral decision to pull out of WHO. But we joined WHO in 1948 by an act of Congress. Trump needs Congress' approval to withdraw. His decision is too catastrophic to be made without Congress and the courts. As director of a WHO Center, I am considering a lawsuit.
