Some social media users have accused the company of political bias, pointing out the issue has been occurring after President Donald Trump's inauguration on Monday, which was attended by Meta owner Mark Zuckerberg.
By manually searching Instagram for "Democrats", rather than clicking on a hashtag, users are greeted by a screen reading "we've hidden these results".
"Results for the term you searched for may contain sensitive content," it says.

(9,173 posts)If you type Democrats into search, ignoring the pre-supplied hashtag links, it says no results on my screen. I tried it twice. Then I tried Republican, same way, and results came up.

Vindman's tweet got 1.3 Mil reads. My reply not long after he tweeted got 6 reads. (they had been doing this to my tweets since during the election).
There's no 1st amendment any more. They're filtering out what they don't want people to see or know.

If you can take a message and make sure it gets seen by 50 million people if you like it, and by only 5000 people if you don't like it, you've just exercised a terrible power.

(10,906 posts)He was spewing crap that wasn't accurate it true and I called him out.
First, he got chummy. He had a bunch of Elon Musk handles following me.
Then he tried to invite me to participate in something.
I ignored him and/or told him to screw off.
From then on, my tweets got a single digit handful of reads - some of them me checking if they had been read.
My social media campaign to fight for Biden ended in early September.
So the country voted on Musk/Republicans siphoning Democrat rebuttal off their social media platforms and promoting Republican lies.
How can Democrats ever combat that? The oligarchs are in control of the media.

(24,187 posts)Pre Musk, Biden's Presidential Tweets would get millions of views and Retweets. Post Trump, some would get just a couple thousand. It was blatantly obvious.
Sounds like Meta was in on getting Trump elected too.
A friend, who is a Conservative Biden and Harris voter, was teeling me about his 20 something kids. They all thought Harris was stupid and an extremist, he was surprised and they told him of the stuff they've seen on social media. He asks to be shown and they showed him videos of her that were edited to make her look comically dimwitted or pushing some extreme idea.
This is an absolute power that was unleashed on the public and there's no way to fight it right now, at least without a willing Congress.

(3,639 posts)Friend of mine said that she was hearing people saying that they were suddenly following both Trump and Vance or one of them on Facebook or Instagram where they never had before. Now on Facebook its not a friend its a follow. But check it because apparently Zuckerberg is forcing people to follow them.
I was following Vance. I dont even know when something like that wouldve happened when I havent used my Facebook in about a year. So I blocked them both.
