My trumper sister has it all figured out. She says if Dems don't stop them from touching SS or Medicare/medicaid

It will be the Dems fault. Even though republicans have the presidency house senate and Supreme Court. The Democrats can always filibuster. And if they don’t stop it they are at fault.

Her brain is addled. But this is what we are dealing with.

I wanted to punch her.

But, there are not enough Democratic Senators to stop it from happening, even with a filibuster. Because, the filibuster is going “bye-bye” as soon as any Democrat uses it.
This is what the majority of people who actually voted decided they want. According to our system….this is what they (and us) will get.

They believed Trump when he said he wouldn't cut it. Only the billionares voted to cut SS and they are about 37 votes.

Democrats of course can't stop it, it depends on Republicans fearing voters more than Trump, and Trump is a bit scarier these days.
Still, cutting SS that people have paid for is big and should get major resistance. The Trump base is seriously NOT for this. So let's not write the epithet yet.

Project 2025 is their guidebook.
Social Security and Medicare are Commie programs to support the undeserving prey of the wealthy.

Get with the plan - if you aren't a Nepo Baby, you're only purpose in life is to grow up and get enough education to work for your betters and pop out replacements for when you get too old.

That includes anyone with talent.

If you're attractive enough and deemed exceptionally talented to the current self-proclaimed Masters, they might let you enter their ranks, but it will still take a generation or two to prove your family is loyal enough to the position for them to truly have membership.

Sorry, it's unraveling really quickly, and the MAGA and comfortably brainwashed don't see the actual loss and danger they're going to experience up close and personal.
Let's see how the courts handle this before it gets too far along.

There is no winning with that strategy. The only way forward is to be very clear about the things we demand and offer zero compromise on those things. And if that means that the walls cave in on the Republicans, so be it. It is better for this to fail quickly and decisively so we can have a chance to get this cancer out of our system. Tell her.... "We Told You So"... then do a mic drop and walk out of the room.... sadly, these misguided people have to feel pain in order to change their minds.... They can't be convinced they voted against their own interests, so stop trying... let her learn the painful lesson that elections have consequences and who you vote for is your responsibility.... sadly, again, we are going to also feel the pain, which maybe she needs to hear...

Blaming her decision on other people is common in this new version of the republican party. They have brainwashed people that you are never at fault, you never admit fault, and your life is crap because of someone else. I am afraid, by your comments, she is lost in the cult... so, I would walk away until they see the light... it may take a while, but once things start getting bad, she may come around.... and if not, she will live a poor, very lonely life and angry all the time.

good luck, hope she comes around...

parental rights of my client.

She was the victim of domestic violence and Child Protection Services took away her five children and put them in foster care. Not only did CPS not get her the social services to heal from the years of domestic violence, they actively sought to terminate her parental rights (and to allow the foster parents to adopt her children) on the basis of her being a victim of domestic violence.

Their position was that because she didn't stop or attempt to stop the DV, her children were harmed by her inaction by witnessing the DV. She was to blame for their emotional and psychological harm, ignoring the fact that SHE was also the victim. (BTW, she was nearly catatonic when we took her on as a client.)

Epilogue: Our defense of her rights proved well. She got her kids back.

if you're a Republican. It's a requirement to be a Republican: ALWAYS blame the other guy.

She's just being who she is.
