"Trump: "We're gonna be demanding respect from other nations. Canada, we have a tremendous deficit with Canada. We're not gonna have that anymore. As you probably know, I say you can always become a state. If you're a state, we won't have a deficit, we won't have to tariff you."
i mean, it is almost comical how stupid he is
drumpf cannot win a tariff war. Why? Because he is a lame duck. No matter what he does, other countries, and foreign corporations know he is gone in four years, and the tariffs will most likely go with him. It makes no financial sense for a foreign company to invest the capital it will take to move their manufacturing process to the USA, and hire/train a whole new workforce, just to get out of paying tariffs, which they are just going to pass on to the US citizens anyway. The far more sensible move is to accept that a downturn if revenue is likely, make deals with other countries to keep yourself in business, and wait out drumpf.
In the meantime we the consumer will take the brunt of the beating. They voted for it, and we all get to suffer.
