Pete Hegseth's former sister-in-law post-vote:
"I was promised that my statement, on the record, would corroborate the other accusations and make a difference in key votes. But in the end, it did not. [This vote] will make women who have experienced abuse and mistreatment even less forthcoming "

(915 posts)No one should be making unkept promises to women who come forward. Let them be aware of whoever this was.

(230 posts)Her statement DID corroborate other accusations. It did NOT make a difference. That is on the Republican senators, not the Dem senator(s) who asked her to release the statement the FBI omitted from their report.

(3,372 posts)It certainly provided important corroboration for what Hegseth has done in the past, but it was wishful thinking that her comment would be the straw that broke the camel's back. I wonder who made that "promise" to her.

(11,084 posts)Whenever I hear someone go on about "Well, they change so much when they get drunk. Normally, they are not like this."
YES, THEY ARE! When you see this phenomenon, what you are seeing is not that the person 'changed'. They are now just unable to maintain the facade they created to make sure those parts of them are not readily visible. Alcohol removes inhibitions and it also removes any 'firewall' on the bad parts of a person's personality. They did not change at all. They just stopped worrying about how they look.
That guy has enough of a history when he is drunk, so that tells me that he is a first rate asshole who has managed to keep some cover over the worst parts of his mentality. But, once he gets into office, he will see no need to keep that facade going any more.
Just watch. I spent 40-some years as an entertainer, and I have been around FAR too many people who 'change' when they get drunk. No, they did not change. You are just finally seeing the real person.
