I almost never even share ANY screen captures of X post, if possible
I never share a link to X anymore

I rarely ever buy anything, and don’t have an Amazon account.

I don’t do FACEBOOK, never have.
I don’t do photo sharing on ANY media platforms

Do occasionally get something at Target.

Think TESLA is a dangerous deadly vehicle,
With extremely bad quality build, and questionable service warranty

I just do NOT go to Wal-Crap stores.
In fact I can only recall once on vacation in Colorado that I
entered a WalCrap store to acquire some fishing gear,
And that was over 10 years ago.

I do go to COSTCO,
My only complaint about COSTCO is I don’t need any of those gigantic packages
I have wasted my money buying Costco big packages of food or meat products,
Just do not need a dozen lamb chops.
I don’t need giant packages of ANYTHING!

My son has a Tesla and is an absolutely wonderful person who despises Trump. He purchased it before Musk's current bromance with Trump.

Not all people who use Facebook, purchase from Amazon, post on X, or buy Teslas are Trump supporters. We all are aware of that, I'm sure.

The only reason I even bothered to write this post is because I previously read someone say that if you see a Tesla that you should "key it." Really?? What kind of crazy talk is that?

We should not assume that we know anything at all about a person's belief systems or political affiliations merely based upon their purchasing habits.

I do not post very often but do want to express my genuine concern about my son's safety.

No criticism toward you at all for expressing your opinion.

Can afford to buy a car from a company that isn't owned by a Nazi. As far the environmental decision. I'm not convinced Tesla's are even that good for the environment, but the could be if they didn't cut corners. Even if it's true. Using that justification to buy a Tesla would be like defending Bayer aspirin in the 1930s , because they were among the first to treat epilepsy. While ignoring they developed the chemicals used in Hitler's gas chamber and paid SS Physicians to inject prisoners with diseases/

Last week, there was a bot-driven campaign to get progressives to leave X on Reddit and other sites. It appeared suddenly and all-at-once on multiple sites. A scolding to quit X.

Three days later, all of those posts suddenly disappeared. This was an op. They don't want people to post facts and critique on X. They want to drive everyone to BlueSky and create another Faux News site on X.

Progressives are posting on both sites and argue not to concede territory.

Elon is losing money on X as advertisers flee. Progressive resistance on that site hits him harder than silence.

22. I agree but, it is hard to escape every product/ service owned by the oligarchs. I think we need to be very strategic
Sun Jan 26, 2025, 01:25 PM
Jan 2025

People use products and services everyday and don’t realize that are owned by these billionaires.

I mentioned in another thread that the popular streaming service TUBI is owned by Rupert Murdoch. TUBI is an absolute no for me.
Both Tim Cook and Bill Gates have kissed the ring.
TUBI is easy for me to get rid of. I have a Mac, IPhone and IPAD. My business uses Microsoft and various Google products.

I absolutely will not buy a Tesla. People who bought them before we figured out the true nature of Elon, can’t sell without taking a hit, since Teslas have lost so much value.

The Koch brothers have been financing trump and the GOP long before these guys. They own a lot of products we use daily, paper towel, tissue for example.

My first gut reaction to Target getting rid of DEI was a total boycott. But then I watched Tabitha Brown’s video and changed my mind. A total boycott would hurt the minority businesses they currently have, which gives them more reason to remove them if sales drop.
I will only buy products that are owned by minorities in Target.

Many of the sellers on Amazon are small businesses. I think getting rid of the Amazon membership is a better alternative. You can still support individual sellers and just pay the full price for shipping. Amazon has other subscription services like Audible that people can boycott.

The vast majority of authors and narrators on Audible are "the little guys." They are independent authors and narrators, many of them POC, people with disabilities, women supporting families, and neurodivergent authors. They are the ones hurt when you cancel an Audible subscription, or a Kindle Unlimited subscription, not Bezos, who only owns like 6% of Amazon at this point.

The only way a new platform can be viable is users. Bluesky may be an echo chamber now, but if everyone deserts Twitter, then more and more users will come over. And Eloon will lose more and more wealth and power.

These people's primary wealth is in our control, I think it's worth exercising our control.

I love the idea of boycotts and strikes. So much better than violence, though strikers are frequently attacked. But I think it's the unifying of effort and targeting to make them effective that's problematic. Many large businesses are falling in line with the fascist agenda, and I don't think boycotts can hurt enough of them enough to make a difference without a huge public movement that we just don't have. Yet. Maybe it will come. International companies would be an even bigger challenge, because if we aren't the biggest customer boycotts won't be as effective.

Also, in some cases we're already avoiding those businesses as much as possible. There's not much different people like I can do. Like the Hobby Lobby I won't go into and haven't for years, because they're lgbtq hating monsters who funded hate legislation in Uganda. Never getting my business again.

Those are the problems I see, as a person with average understanding that I am.

While we're talking social media, let's not forget that the whole reason Twitter is in the current state it is was because Jack Dorsey decided to cash in and sell it to Leon, knowing exactly how problematic he was. Sit with that for a minute. And so now he's started up Bluesky, which I have zero confidence he won't dump as soon as it becomes profitable, just like he did with Twitter.

Also, anyone with the privilege to be able to ban companies like Amazon, Walmart and Target must be very comfortable, happily able bodied, and not rely on grocery delivery like disabled people do. If you want to do that on your own, pick and choose whatever forms of protest make you feel better, but recognize the privilege that allows you to do so.

They’re in a dispute with the Teamsters. Did you not see the “fuck Costco” thread a few days ago?

I think I’m just going to barter from here on out.

I use Twitter, Facebook, Amazon, and no doubt other businesses you don't like.

If I boycotted every business, service, App, food, object I've been told to boycott since the 1970's I would be a hermit in the woods. And someone would complain about that.
