Zuckerberg is a coward.

By Joan Westenberg, who is not a coward.

This man is a coward. And no amount of corporate jargon or performative masculinity can make that stain go away.

Mark Zuckerberg sat in the safety of his bubble this week, silent as Donald Trump dismantled and declawed the National Institutes of Health. Forty billion dollars in research funding now hangs frozen. Thousands of scientists wait in limbo. And the tech billionaire who once promised to help cure all diseases can't muster a single word of protest.

The silence tells us everything. So do the actions that preceded it. In the months since Zuckerberg's Thanksgiving meeting with Trump, the architect of the Poke has orchestrated a complete surrender of principles at Meta. He stripped away fact-checking programs. He gutted content moderation policies. He elevated Republican executives to key positions. He eliminated diversity initiatives across the company, claiming without evidence they had somehow worked "too well" - even as men continue to outnumber women at Meta by two to one.

Watch how quickly he moves when Trump demands change. Special rules for Trump's social media posts? Done. A warm welcome back to Meta's platforms? Arranged immediately. The dismantling of years of protective policies? Executed within weeks. Zuckerberg transforms himself with each passing month, molding himself into whatever shape he thinks will please his new master. The awkward coding prodigy now struts around as a cage-fighting, wild-pig-hunting warrior philosopher, spouting tired talking points about "masculine virtues" on Joe Rogan's podcast.
...

Power corrupts, but cowardice corrupts more completely. It corrupts not through excess but through absence - the absence of backbone, principle, and basic human courage.

Edit to add, from Wikiquote:

Zuckerberg: Yeah so if you ever need info about anyone at Harvard
Zuckerberg: Just ask
Zuckerberg: I have over 4,000 emails, pictures, addresses, SNS
[Redacted Friend's Name]: What? How'd you manage that one?
Zuckerberg: People just submitted it.
Zuckerberg: I don't know why.
Zuckerberg: They "trust me"
Zuckerberg: Dumb fucks

The Gutsy Teenage Oversteegen Sisters Killed Nazis During WWII

When the Nazis began deporting the Netherlands’ Jews, the occupied country’s communists and socialists came together in February of 1941 to lead a massive strike in protest. It was one of the few successful nationwide protests against the Germans. The Nazis responded by ramping up their repression and brutality in order to cow the occupied Dutch into obedience and toeing the line. The occupiers’ repression further alienated even more Dutch people, and drove them into the arms of the resistance.

Upon joining the Dutch Resistance, the teenaged Truus and Freddie Oversteegen started off small, by distributing leaflets and illegal newspapers, and offering assistance to fugitives from the Nazi. However, things changed in the aftermath of the brutal Nazi crackdown in 1941, in retaliation for the massive Dutch workers’ strike to protest the deportation of Jews. German brutality further radicalized Truus, and spurred her and her sister to join an armed partisan fighter cell that engaged in direct action against the Nazis.

After receiving military training and learning how to operate a firearm, Truus’ early assignments included flirting with and seducing German soldiers, and leading them into the woods where they would be killed by her comrades.

...

Before long, Truus was putting her weapons training to good use, and shooting Germans herself. Along with her sister, she also rigged up bridges and railroad tracks with explosives for destruction. The Oversteegen girls also helped smuggle Jewish children out of the country, carried out daring missions to help some of them escape from detention centres en route to extermination centres, and even sprang some from concentration camps.

We need not cowardice but peaceful resistance to fascism.

I'm not sure is cowardice, but rather unquenchable greed and complete amorality. He'd sell his grandmother for a nickel if he could. He recognizes nothing as moral or immoral, simply profitable or not profitable. A complete fucking asshole.

... that they are afraid reality will catch up with them in their dreams, our nightmares, and they must actual do something useful, pay for their treasures, and share their hoards.

Or, as likely, all of the houses of cards they've built will be blown over.

It reminds me of a meme I saw many years about about reality: how many calories are there in an iPhone?

Meta is being investigated. Not just for the usual corporate fuckery, there is that to.
But also for involvement in illegal drugs.

If Zuckerberg kisses the ass wekk enough those investigations might disappear.

Tech Bros. He is indifferent to what Meta employees think or say. He doesn't like to engage. He's much happier playing with a virtual reality headset. He's passive aggressive and out to lunch.

A really good book is "The Ugly Truth: Inside Facebook's Battle for Domination" by NYT reporters Cecilia Kang and Sheera Frenkel. After reading this book I felt I had greater insight into what kind of a person Zuckerberg is.
