I am not sure if everyone fully grabs how ObamaCare will expand access to mental health. The below link provides some details.

From expanded access to preventative care, the President should get a lot of credit for this. Expanded access is one way to prevent future days like Friday.

We largely did away with mental health institutions and went to a community model. The old system had many abuses. However, we did to think about some aspects of it.

The president gets a lot of credit, as do Democrats (and maybe even a couple Republicans) in Congress who pushed this. I believe Tom Harkin has done a lot of work on mental health parity.

(17,493 posts)I can see how Obama care will help many who suffer from mental problems. I know a good number of people who suffer from items like depression who have found it difficult to afford treatment. Such people are unlikely to run amok and kill a large number of people but a few may decide to commit suicide and those that do often use a firearm for the task.
