Indiana man shot dead by police had been pardoned for Jan. 6 Capitol riot

RENSSELAER, Ind. — The man shot dead Sunday by Jasper County police while allegedly resisting arrest has been identified as 42-year-old Hobart, Indiana, resident Matthew W. Huttle, who was among those presumably pardoned last week by President Trump for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021 breach of the U.S. Capitol building.

Details are few as the shooting investigation continues, but state police said a deputy with the Jasper County Sheriff's Department stopped a vehicle around 4:15 p.m. Sunday on Ind. 14, east of County Road 475 East.

"During the traffic stop, the officer attempted to arrest the suspect when the suspect resisted," according to state police. "An altercation took place between the suspect and the officer, which resulted in the officer firing his weapon and fatally wounding the suspect."

It appears the stop was routine and the result of an alleged traffic violation, according to police.

"The investigation also shows that during the traffic stop, the suspect was in possession of a firearm," police said.

Police brutality and out of control force by the cops transcends political division. The cops work for the ruling class first and foremost. Their main purpose is to enforce ruling class laws and ruling class authority. What happens to Huttle can easily happen to anyone in the rank and file if you "step out of line" or "resist" in any way. Especially if you happen to be black, brown, or "illegal."

I'm cheering.

1500 pardoned, one shot resisting arrest, one arrested within hours of release on a previous charge = 1498 to go.

I live in a rural Virginia county where two of those assholes returned from jail this weekend to a huge welcome put together by the local Republican Party. We Democrats are threatened with firearms, vehicles vandalized, middle fingers and curses wherever we go -- I'll cheer every time one of the 1498 remaining is done in.

This guy getting taken out by the cops is an entirely different matter. Beyond that, the Bush and Cheney regime overthrew "our government" and yet the Democratic Party leadership gladly accepted the endorsement of Cheney. And it's a funny thing about "our government." A lot of rank and file people well realize that they've never had a seat at the table or a real voice in the matters of "our government."

As for being a bystander at an insurrection, hogwash. "Matthew Huttle declared, “We’re going to see if we can get inside!” As the two men drew closer to Capitol grounds, Matthew Huttle said, “We’re going to be stopped here, I don’t think we’re going to get close. We’re going to have to go up the side . . . . Cops, a lot of cops,” to which Dale Huttle responded, “I think we ought to bum rush the Capitol building! Arrest them all. We’ve got enough people to do that.” His uncle was later busy assaulting cops with a flag pole. What did Matthew do? Stop him? If he had stayed on public areas as a lawful visitor, he would have been a bystander. I won't assume the cop did something illegal until I actually get the facts. The same thing I do when anyone gets shot by the police, no matter what color their skin is.

When it comes to the cops and ruling class authority abusing their power and position in arrests that turn into deadly force, an "injury to one is an injury to all", regardless of political affiliation. That's my view at least. As I say. You're welcome to yours. When it comes to "the thin blue line", the narrative and account of what took place is often far from the reality of what actually did. Seems the guy had a pretty serious drinking problem and not much history of "extremist violence" as someone else in this thread said.
