I don't want to ever hear another Repuke attack teachers...

I'm so so sick of people bashing teachers. Granted, this is done primarily by right wing nutjobs whose real intent is to destroy ALL unions and the public education system. For too many decades Republicans have made teacher-bashing the fashion, and I am just sick of it. But are libs out there defending teachers against bullshit accusations by the right wing? I'm not so sure.

Teachers work a hugely long day. Teachers don't just go home and watch TV, they prepare lessons, they grade papers, prepare exams, are the psychologist of their classroom, finance a lot of the materials kids in their classroom use, and CARE for the well being children while they are in the classroom.

Connecticut Shooting: Teacher Kaitlin Roig Protected Her Students

Teacher rushed 15 small children into the bathroom as shots rang out.

This horrific event seems to have shaken him a bit.

He has been kind of quiet.

...castigating them for anti-union, anti public employee rhetoric and laws and said if they had 10% of the humanity and bravery of six dead union educators in Sandy Hook, they would apologize to their citizens and demand the legislatures send them bill overturning the anti-union and right to work and pro-gum laws.

As I watched an interview with three of the teachers today, I was outraged that any decent human being would attempt to malign these people who devote their lives to teaching. Teachers not only protected those children but gave their lives for them. And across this country, there are thousand more just like them, who would have done the same. These teachers were also first responders.

I have always been pro-union; my birth certificate lists my father's occupation as teamster...and I have always told union members, it's my birthright. I will continue to fight for these men and women who choose to teach against the Republicans. All of us need to fight even harder for them.

day they come to school, and most probably don't even think about it/ or know it. We have some hero's here, and it's sad but true they probably will never know that either.

no instructional aids (later we got a 1/2 time aide)...and "standards" to individualize their instruction in all subjects...and keep a record of it...and no supply budget...books/workbooks/consummables/ what are those??? very limited special ed classes...mornings, late afternoons and weekends shopping at the teacher's supply store, making learning worksheets and aids ... $9,000 annual pay give or take a year... after 5 years of college education.

With fledgling teacher's groups/unions, we struck in 1975 for a 2.9% raise after 2 years with less than 1% raises.

Some things are better now, but it's still a labor of love mostly, so God bless the teachers and "if you can read this ..." you know who to thank.
