While I don't share his religion, the statement is meant to say that even though things are hard now, there's still hope because in their religion, god is the source of hope and good and thus the current difficulty will eventually pass.

The reality is that people need to feel the pain from Trump to wake up and get serious about voting and stop blaming our side when they choose to elect people that tell them they will make their lives worse.
