Melissa Gilbert will not stand for any Little House on the Prairie slander.
On Thursday, Jan. 30, the actress, 60, posted a statement in response to a tweet from Megyn Kelly reacting to the news about the Little House reboot coming to Netflix and Gilbert did not hold back in her defense of the show that made her famous.
"Apparently Megyn tweeted (Im not on that platform) asking that Netflix not 'woke-ify' their Little House remake. Umm watch the original again. TV doesn't get too much more 'woke' than we did," Gilbert wrote on Instagram.
"We tackled: racism, addiction, nativism, antisemitism, misogyny, rape, spousal abuse and every other 'woke' topic you can think of. Thank you very much."...
Thank you, Melissa.

(15,700 posts)On the original. Even though the main characters were pretty much 1870's Minnesota white settler types, and there wouldn't be much more than Natives, Irish or Italian Immigrants, or "Losers and Scalawags" trying to remake their fortunes or image by heading west.

Episode 1 Plot Synopsis: Charles and his friends learn of a black family that owns a farm, so they don white hoods, attack the farm, kill the men, keep the women as slaves, and claim the farm as their own in the name of Jesus. Lesson learned from this episode: Steal, kill, pillage, rape, is OK for white folk, but none of that woke shit.

(29,710 posts)they even had an episode where people are boycotting a high school football game because the other team has black players. Before there was such a thing as high school football. Our family of football and history buffs were rooted in shock. Worst. Show. Ever. (Well, a tie if nothing else).

(12,564 posts)... they might have a clue what "anti-woke" really means, and they might not wear it like a badge of honor. Ditto for DEI. But Megyn Kelly? She knows.

(38,389 posts)The video I'm linking to below is to YouTuber Steve Shives, whose content is mostly Star Trek-related stuff but is also but is also unabashedly anti-RW, an atheist recalling Michael Landon's first after-LHOTP show, "Highway to Heaven". And how it was "woke as hell" in comparison to RW religious exhortations of its time, much less the even more RW exhortations of time since.

(1,355 posts)I think your Steve Shives was very on point in my opinion.
M Landon being a republican back then is much like Lincoln being one
I like to think if still alive they would not embrace todays current )party.
( I do know that somewhere along the line Lincolns Republican Party morphed into the democrat and vis versa - but the Repubs try to still claim him)
Another thing I wish the world had a Johnathon Smith and Mark Gordon

(38,389 posts)...and Rush Limbaugh was still all hot air and not a "Majority-maker" for the Republicans. In other words, Landon was one of the "old rules" Republicans who could be engaged and spoken to, not the not-too-much-later version that Newt turned into zombie intransigent always-enemies.

Bonanza is about how three brothers of different mothers together solve social justice issues.
Big Valley is a rip off of Bonanza's premise, but with a matriarch instead of a patriarch.
