https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/immigration/texas-offering-land-trump-mass-deportation-facilities-rcna182627Since they are so hell bent on redoing all the government to save money.. one has to ask themselves why would they not use all that land in Texas.. It would be so much cheaper than flying people to Cuba ..building in Cuba.. moving guards to Cuba. etc etc etc
But COMMON SENSE tells me that it is more to hide what happens to people, in a far away detention center.. far from the prying eyes of the press..

A part of me thinks that if a government/country won't take back its citizens, maybe the press of having them detained in Gitmo might be a bit of motivation for at least some. (And if not, they're not in the US--so they can be detained indefinitely, unlike on US soil where they can't be, not without legal grief.)
Not sure Trump's going to get his jollies by knowing people are tortured at Gitmo.

(108,772 posts)Middle of nowhere Texas doesn't bring in the prime time ratings. Guantanamo Bay is a household name. It brings in the ratings and allows Fox News to fearmonger the shit out of it. It's all about the political and news network theater with this clown. It keeps the masses drawn in, while allowing and distracting the populace from getting away with the real crimes against humanity elsewhere.
And by stacking the Pentagon with his shitty ass kissing propaganda outlets, they'll be able to get away with it, and control the narrative while getting away with some truly evil shit behind the scenes. Fuck this administration.

(2,145 posts)I don't think it has anything to do with rights, or torture, or the press.
I think Trump thinks that saying he's sending immigrants to GITMO sounds tough, and he like that.
