Has that ever happened before?
EDIT: I just heard Rachel say that this is the first time in the Republican Party.

(59,504 posts)Iowa - Harkin
NH - Tsongus
Maine - Brown
Then 4 states went on the same day, and three candidates won states
Kerrey won one (South Dakota),
Tsongus won Colorado and Maryland
Clinton won Georgia
I know that many people really wanted Cuomo to enter - and the media really really liked Bill Clinton. http://www.uselectionatlas.org/RESULTS/timeline.php?year=1992&f=0&off=0&elect=1
(Seeing this makes me angrier than I was that Begala and Carville spent the late primaries and the general election speaking of Kerry as Anybody but Bush - when Clinton's win was due to OVERWHELMING support in the South - with many rivals splitting the real ABB CLINTON vote. Compared to Kerry losing just SC, OK, NC, and VT. ) Ignoring my continuing anger when I look back at things like this, the more important message is that 1992 is far more normal in terms of party dynamics. All of us who preferred almost anyone else banded behind the party's nominee - reading his book and finding the parts we COULD support.
