Trump seems to defy political gravity, but can he survive economic gravity?

Trump has been making remarks and actions that would sink any other politician. McCain wasn't hero because he was captured, they let you grab them by the pussy, bleeding from the whatever, indictments and convictions and hundreds of more reasons. It defies common political logic, but I guess that's how a cult works.

But economic gravity is different. Now, please don't tell me how Trump's base (cult) works. I know. That number is about 35% (IMHO) of the voters. They will never leave him. He wins with the soft voters. Voters who vote against something, like a woman or a minority. Too many voters are confused and apatetic and stay home, as evidenced in the last election. I'm talking about the 15% of that "soft" vote.

These tariffs, the deportation, the bird flu and just the expected economic cycle itself is going to cause untold economic hardship. I don't think Trump can survive that. He'll retain his 35%-38% in favorability. After all, as I said, I concede he has a cult following. But, as Lincoln once said, "You can fool all of the people, some of the time and some of the people, all of the time. But you can't fool all of the people all of the time".

I state that in the OP. But that Cult does not expand into the 40% range.

If his cult is 50% or greater, then we really are fucked and there is no reason to resist. But I don't believe that. I believe his cult is no more than a third of the electorate. The rest of his plurality votes against something else for a different reason.

Hedge funds are making a multi-billion-dollar gamble against the US economy, betting Donald Trump's presidency will result in a massive market crash that could devastate 401(k)s, pensions, and household savings across America.

Data from Goldman Sachs has sent shockwaves through financial circles, revealing a dramatic surge in 'short' positions against US stocks - a move that signals a belief the market is headed for a precipitous crash.
