General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIs there any way to block a certain topic so that I don't see any posts about it?
I apologize if it's something easy to find but I've been searching and help etc. And everything I put in just goes to news articles about the very subject that I want to block from my view. Basically foreve.
And that topic would be basketball. I just don't care for it. I understand. People love it. I totally dig it. Caitlin Clark is great blah blah blah but I don't want to know anything about it. It's not for me. I've never liked it in my entire life. And as an example, when I went to the latest post forum, like the first eight articles or more all in a row, we're all about basketball. And I don't care about it.
So this is not a rant. I just wonder if there's some way you can put a block on a subject just like they have ways to block people.
I need help would be greatly appreciated.

I did figure out trashing a form. Doesn't mean go in there and just blast them with hate hahaha And now I don't think I'm going to see the basketball forum anymore and they mostly seem to be on that forum, the ones that I'm looking to avoid.

(81,719 posts)I also lack interest in basketball & most sports.
I used instructions given in this thread to block basketball, but posts still appear.
I'm on a mobil device, but there is no link to block forums.

(3,903 posts)I always go to LATEST.
When it opens, right under LATEST you will see FORUMS.
Click FORUMS, it will Show ALL FORUMS, under that START DISCUSSION or LiST BY NAME or MARK ALL or LIST BY CATEGORY.
I chose LIST BY NAME and scroll down til you get to an alphabetical list, I found BASKETBALL and BASEBALL and FOOTBALL and tons of others, I clicked on BASKETBALL, it goes to a new page.
At the top of the new page are some boxes, go to TRASH FORUM and click and supposedly it will not show up anymore. I There are 2 suboptions on how deeply you want to trash it.
i guess i won't really know til tomorrow if it worked, and I'm sure there are ways basketball discussion could still show up, if not directly posted in the basketball forum , but we live in hope!

(26,593 posts)I reluctantly do this to some forums to avoid info overload.
Go to forums in the forum page
https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forums
Click on the forum and you can trash it.
I had to do this to basketball because it was flooding me with articles.
And I love basketball. I grew up following the great Celtics teams and the all time great Bill Russell, and heard Johnny Most report "Havlicek stole the ball"
Under MyDU you can trash keywords or ignore individuals.

I'm here for the politics.

(26,593 posts)I just posted an article on surviving the larger internet.

I use DU and Hacker News.
Hacker News this weekend is flagging articles like crazy. Mostly about Musk. I just caught and saved an article (not about Musk) that disappeared totally a few minutes after it was posted.
The internet is one tough town.
