This is one of the most informed explanations of the coup, and what to do. It's about an hour and a half and worth every minute. From her Instagram.
Notes - started taking about halfway through. Not much editing.
- "Where are the Democrats?" Trump/Musk rolled all this out while congress in recess. Reps were in local districts doing townhalls, etc. They return to DC today.
- Flood the zone for special elections in Florida and NY. No excuses. Republicans are being affected by the coup. Strike while the iron is hot.
- Call democratic senators - DO NOT Vote for any nominee!
- Slow them down. The slower they go, the less they can break.
Target Republicans afraid of next elections/primaries
- Republican house members can be unseated, are terrified of losing their seats.
- Organize - Westchester County, Rockland County.
- They know what's going on is bad.
- Call your republican representatives: "What are you doing about Musk? Why are you allowing them to do this? Hold them responsible for the damage.
-Put pressure on 4-5 of them to not confirm bad nominees. They have a chance to be on the right side of the shitshow.
Don't feed them with your fears. Be fierce
- They feed off your fears. It's a mentality. They're trying to control your emotional state, make you feel overwhelmed, that there is nothing you can do. They want you to feel paralyzed, to give up.
- Elon Musk is extremely thinskinned. Can't handle pushback. Money isn't enough. He is vulnerable to ego injury. Needs to feel power. Do not give them your fear, anxiety! It feeds them.
-ICE - They're making it look bigger in the media that it really is. It's bad, but vulnerable. They want people to consent in advance. The more that people stand up, the faster it will fail. Keep your kids in school. The less fear you show, the weaker they are.
- Birthright citizenship went nowhere. They are trying to get you to surrender. Was met immediately with 20 lawsuits. Courts still matter.
- We outnumber them. Do not give up our strategic advantage of numbers. Do everything we can to slow them down, shake their confidence, defy them.
- Don't say, "That won't work". That is conceding in advance.
Keep track of who is doing what
- Democratic heads of committees - judiciary, budget, house intelligence, appropriations etc. will be each tackling areas that are being affected. Check their websites to see what they are doing. They are doing a lot! It is spread out. Get to know who is on what committees. Find out which committees your members are on. Follow and support them.
Your assignments:
- Call your senators, tell them DO NOT APPROVE cabinet picks. PUMP the breaks.
- Make "Know Your Rights cards" - put them everywhere.
- Your everyday small actions matter. It all adds up.
- We outnumber them. Do not give up our strategic advantage of numbers. Do what you can.
Must watch! All the threads connected.

(24,486 posts)It must be accomplished within 2 years before the '26 elections because there is no way they want there to be any national elections that will impact their control of the U.S. I think it is naive to believe that we will just be able by voting to begin to neutralize their power that they've worked years to attain.
Think of Roe v Wade. Once that was decided, those of us on the Left were convinced that a woman's right to an abortion was a done deal and we all but went to sleep about it. But those opposed to Roe fought for nearly 50 years to overturn it and here we are today.
And when Trump came on the scene to run for president in '16, we treated him like a joke. In states like here in Wisconsin, that many Democrats were so sure that Hillary would win they felt like that freed them up to vote for a third party candidate like Jill Stein of the Green Party to show their support of environmental causes. Well, Trump won Wisconsin and Stein received more votes here than Trump's margin of victory.
In my over 50 years of voting I always vote for the Democratic candidate. Always. It just simplifies things.
Imagine an alternate universe where Hillary won the 2016 election and our Supreme Court is solidly Liberal.
But it's like Will Rogers said: "I don't belong to any organized political party. I am a Democrat." I wonder how we have lasted as long as we have.

If you want to print your own, go here:

NOTE: The cards don't have to be red. What I did was copy/paste the text into a business card template, using my word processing software. Then I printed them on pre-scored business card paper.

(6,670 posts)Trying to successfully run AOC-like or other vermont-style candidates nationwide would not work. Those types of candidates in moderate and centrist purple districts would very likely lose... and the Republican running against them would win.
I take your point, however. It's a nice thought... but realistically, it's not going to happen.

(7,576 posts)with moderates and realize they can't be more like AOC. But there are enough solid blue districts for more AOCs.
