Feb 4 (Reuters) - The Central Intelligence Agency offered buyouts to its entire workforce Tuesday, citing an aim to bring the agency in line with U.S. President Donald Trump's priorities, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The U.S. spy agency is also freezing the hiring of job applicants already given a conditional offer, the WSJ reported, quoting an aide to CIA Director John Ratcliffe.
The aide, not named in the report, said some of those frozen offers are likely to be rescinded if the applicants do not have the right background for the agency's new goals, which include targeting drug cartels, Trump's trade war and undermining China.
The agency does not disclose its budget or the number of people it employs. It did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

(10,497 posts)After three days of pure chaos, according to a friend of mine who got the email, the union sent an email saying not to fall for the scam.
There is no guarantee the money will be there, no one is authorized to offer this, and Congress controls the budget.

(797 posts)Im guessing theyll be some of the more marketable ex-govt jobseekers, especially with security clearances. The buyout could make a lot of sense. Plus, it would mean getting out before things get especially sideways and having to engage the legal system to save your job or preserve job protections. A person could look at months and months trying to get anything.

If even the trainers and station heads depart, theres literally no CIA left to gather intel for months? Years?
Even if they are trying to clean out the deep state, this would make Americans everywhere far FAR less safe, including officials
