I just noticed on our local reddit page that there is now a website: https://50protests.com

It looks thorough and organized. Good guidelines, advice from ACLU, and where permits are required they have them.

They now have an official partnership with Political Revolution.

And, oddly, Newsweek continues to cover them.

7. Good! The first messaging I saw on a flyer was bad, rallying against Project 2025.

Maybe a quarter of the country has any idea what that is. But they have long, deep brain constructs of better terms: Nazis and Fascists. All the books and movies covering WWII both in fiction and non-fiction give those words power. Project 2025 should be never be mentioned in critical messaging ever again.

It can be talked about only if talking about Nazis and Fascists and as the plan to put our new Nazis and Fascists in power.

9. One of the reasons they're doing it at Capitols is for protection from MAGAt brownshirts.

Speaking to Newsweek Citizen Rosengarten, an organizer of the 50501 Movement protest in Springfield, Illinois, said: The Illinois Citizens 50501 Movement has requested the permits to meet on the Capitol grounds. We have also received substantial threats of violence from MAGA groups, so we're meeting on Capitol grounds to guarantee that they will be limited in their efforts to harass/silence/harm us."

Even as poorly paid as I am, it helps tremendously as my disability payments aren't enough to pay for my living expenses. Due to the vagaries of my condition, I would die within a few months' time without both of those.

because the weather is glorious and it would be a good time for a protest. But DeSantis has all sorts of legal mumbo jumbo about protests so maybe that's the problem.

Note that these were organized mostly on reddit, using the Capitol city's reddit pages of each state. So I just looked up r/Tallahassee on reddit and sure enough, there was a post about the protest!

Unfortunately, the only one listed in Illinois is at the state capitol in Springfield. That's too far for me (4.5 hours each way). But I'm really glad this is happening, even though I won't be able to make it!

If you go to reddit or instagram and put in 50501 they show more demonstrations.

It's hard to put 50+ demonstrations together in about 10 days--and it's only the beginning. I'm cutting them a lot of slack but can see the pain of the effort.

The period after the com is bringing up unsecured website warnings and won’t work. Tried on Safari and DuckDuckGo browsers. Worked fine on both once the dot was removed.
