I just noticed on our local reddit page that there is now a website: https://50protests.com
It looks thorough and organized. Good guidelines, advice from ACLU, and where permits are required they have them.
They now have an official partnership with Political Revolution.
And, oddly, Newsweek continues to cover them.

(8,901 posts)There will be more. Not always organized by this group, but I am seeing all kinds of things in the least expected places.

(9,212 posts)It's hard on me to get to these things anyway although if there is something eventually closer I will go.

(4,278 posts)Maybe a quarter of the country has any idea what that is. But they have long, deep brain constructs of better terms: Nazis and Fascists. All the books and movies covering WWII both in fiction and non-fiction give those words power. Project 2025 should be never be mentioned in critical messaging ever again.
It can be talked about only if talking about Nazis and Fascists and as the plan to put our new Nazis and Fascists in power.

(9,629 posts)Some of the state solons are likely to let the MAGA horde convene in their offices first before pouring into the protests to crack skulls.

(9,629 posts)Even as poorly paid as I am, it helps tremendously as my disability payments aren't enough to pay for my living expenses. Due to the vagaries of my condition, I would die within a few months' time without both of those.

(10,692 posts)because the weather is glorious and it would be a good time for a protest. But DeSantis has all sorts of legal mumbo jumbo about protests so maybe that's the problem.

Note that these were organized mostly on reddit, using the Capitol city's reddit pages of each state. So I just looked up r/Tallahassee on reddit and sure enough, there was a post about the protest!

(10,692 posts)I'm too far from Tallahassee, but I'm sure glad to see it. The map in the OP didn't show anything in Florida.

(22,883 posts)Unfortunately, the only one listed in Illinois is at the state capitol in Springfield. That's too far for me (4.5 hours each way). But I'm really glad this is happening, even though I won't be able to make it!

(8,901 posts)If you go to reddit or instagram and put in 50501 they show more demonstrations.
It's hard to put 50+ demonstrations together in about 10 days--and it's only the beginning. I'm cutting them a lot of slack but can see the pain of the effort.

(22,883 posts)I'm really impressed with what they've managed to do in such a short time.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
