Watching cablenews and the clips are of him with Neti. His face doesn't look...fresh. Skin seems more sloggy than usual, eyes are not as bright. And skin color...who knows?

(81,266 posts)Valium, Xanax, Ativan. Big doses to slur like that.
Or he is having some mini strokes?
Baitball Blogger
(52,345 posts)He wasn't as confident, and he seemed sleepy.
Irish_Dem
(81,266 posts)High dose.
Maybe even something more powerful like Thorazine.
This should also control his acting out, and manic like behavior.
I think his chief of staff has been horrified by his acting out and running his mouth.
Maybe she ordered it.
Last time Trump was in the WH, the WH doc was dispensing all kinds of drugs like candy.

(81,266 posts)(BTW I am open minded and consider all possibilities.
A good scientist never rules out ideas without investigation or thinking about it.)
You may have answered a question I had.
To me it looks like Trump is on a drug cocktail, a combination of meds.
Sometimes he looks sedated like he is on a tranquilizer.
He slurs his speech, very low energy, can hardly speak or read the teleprompter.
Other times he is sharper, talking a lot, moving around a lot.
Better focus and attention. I think he is on some sort of stimulant at these times.
Lately he has been almost manic, making outrageous claims and threats.
So he needed to be given some Debbie Downers.
But he is oppositional and lazy so I wondered how they getting him to take the right meds
at the correct time. Maybe they are slipping it into his food and he is none the wiser.
That might be the only way they can do it.
When you are medicating someone with stimulants and tranquilizers it is a tricky business.
These meds are working in opposite ways and it is hard to titrate it just right. He is drinking diet coke
and eating all the time. The medication minder would have an easier time with dosing this way.
mr715
(3,564 posts)a high dose of valium would make him a little nicer. He doesn't deserve xanax.
Irish_Dem
(81,266 posts)As opposed to his more manic hate filled loud rhetoric.
But a benzodiazepine will not change basic deeply ingrained personality.
Trump is mentally ill, a narcissist and psychopath.
He is ruthless and vicious.
Hard to medicate that away with mild tranquilizers.
mr715
(3,564 posts)I hope I'm nicer when I take xanax. But I hope I don't have a personality disorder.
Also, mild tranquilizer is a cute little name for the benzos. Yeah, they ain't haldol or thorazine, but they also ain't chamomile tea.
Irish_Dem
(81,266 posts)Yes there were called minor tranquilizers back in the day.
People thought they were mild.
They were handed out to women like candy by the docs.
Of course they were addictive and dangerous with long term use.
But docs didn't realize it back then.
Yes they were different from the major tranquilizers like thorazine, haldol, etc.
John1956PA
(4,964 posts)I heard that they were easy to obtain via prescription and that they got passed around to individuals who wanted more energy, endurance, etc. I am glad I never got involved in any of that.
mr715
(3,564 posts)are just amphetamine salts. Adderall.
And yeah, they'll give you more energy and alter task valance, but they are a somewhat blunt instrument.
Irish_Dem
(81,266 posts)Bennies were Benzedrine, the first brand name for amphetamine. Or speed.
These are uppers and yes gave people false energy, endurance, etc.
In the military it is called a go drug.
The benzodiazepines are the opposite, they are sedatives and make people calm, drowsy, sleepy.
In the military they are called no go drugs.
Yes back in the 60s, 70s, these drugs were all handed out by docs with no problem.
And highly addictive.
An old doc gave me low dose seroquel to help me sleep (zolpidem was hit or miss). It was one of the most horrible sensation of my life. Felt like I had wet bathmat in my brain. It was difficult to hold on to thoughts long enough to act on them, and I slept like 20 hours.
I've read they give them out fairly liberally in prisons to keep people docile. It is horrible stuff, at least was for me.
But I guess it helps people with a worse illness than mild insomnia.

(81,266 posts)But the first year after the mini strokes the life expectancy is lowered.
But I think he is on sedatives, it sounds more like that.
I have just heard the reports here, I have not seen the video.
It reminds me of Nixon, he was on Valium at the end, before he left, it was obvious.
lived twenty years after her first mini stroke, but I think she continued to have them without knowing. She ended up having dementia in the end.
Irish_Dem
(81,266 posts)Yes it results in multi-infarct dementia due to the brain damage.
my moms dementia got really bad, I would go to the doctor with her. When they would take her blood pressure, many times it would be high, yet they didnt suggest blood pressure medication. I had high blood pressure in my mid thirties and was immediately put on medication.
That is so sad. Medical care is not always optimal.

(34,914 posts)Or, so those have worked with him on that TV game show claim. (I believe them, especially given his incessant sniffing.)
It may also be because of his poor health and mental decline. Word has it for a few days after the election, due to physical and mental exhaustion. Which is likely why he disappeared for the week after the election. I can only imagine the lengths they're going through to keep that fucker alive and semi-coherent.
Irish_Dem
(81,266 posts)I assure you there were many high powered psychotropics on that list.
It is almost certain we are not looking at Trump snorting Sudafed.
He has access to the good stuff.
I think he looks obviously medicated with uppers and downers.
It is much more than exhaustion.
Oh yes I agree, I would love to see how they keep him alive and fairly functional.
I think he is medicated most of the time.
and Zolpidem were handed out like candy. My understanding is that Modafinil isn't particularly "good stuff" but it gets the job done (meaning staying awake).
Go and no go pills.
I stand corrected: modafinil looks like it has some juicy dopamine binding implying it is at least pretty "good stuff"
Irish_Dem
(81,266 posts)Yes there were go and no go drugs.
Uppers, downers.
I noticed quite a few drugs often used as date rape drugs too.
Halcion or Rohypnol?
Irish_Dem
(81,266 posts)It was more common psychotropics but typically used in combination as club drugs.
Or date rape drugs.
Ambien, Ketamine, Fentanyl, Morphine, Zolpidem, codeine, Versed.
Versed caught my eye, memory, judgement issues, I don't see that used outpatient at all.
Typically used to block memory of OP surgery.
Ambien does the same kind of thing in terms of blocking memory.
Then if you use fentanyl or codeine or cocaine....
Wow. Lethal injection drug.
Irish_Dem
(81,266 posts)As I recall someone had received 20 ampules of it!
Why does a WH employee need 20 containers of injectable versed?
I did a double take on it as I said.
And all the other drugs as well.
As I was looking at the list, date rape drugs popped into my head.
And I assume the public was just seeing a short list for a small time period.
The drugs flowed freely the whole 4 years.
I suspect some of these drugs were mixed with booze too.
if we're injecting versed in the White House, I don't think Halcion would be more obvious. I'll grant you rohypnol would probably raise some eyebrows, but versed!? Jesus Christ!
To make light of this, they either used way too little or way too much.
Irish_Dem
(81,266 posts)But you are right, injectable versed is pretty bad.
Why do WH employees need to experience blackouts?
They could have handed out Halcion or roofies for all I know.
I only saw one sheet of the drugs.
It hit the popular press some years back.
You can google it and see if you can find out more.
Oh I think they used way too little.
They should have all just OD'd.
mr715
(3,564 posts)The Versed injectables is hand written in!
And 2000 Ambiens.
And a lot, a lot of opiods. The entire effing opioid crisis in the WH. Oxymorphone. Stuff that'll knock out an elephant.
Irish_Dem
(81,266 posts)Yes some of the entries were hand written in.
And yes huge amounts of these drugs.
Who the H needs 2000 Ambiens?
Yes lots of opioids.
Such strong stuff in such large quantities.
You can see why I was thinking date rape drugs.
Yes it was a horrendous list. My jaw dropped when I saw it.
And this is just one list!
How much of this stuff was Trump taking?
And was his staff high all the time?
One staffer said that to work for Trump you had to take pills and wash it down with booze.

I dont think Vance will be able to get the repukes to dance so willingly and feverishly the way Trump can. Who knows? There actually may be a few bumpkins and clodhoppers out there with some minor vestigial scrapings of brain matter who object to rich nepo boy calling himself a hillbilly.
If the current American political system was Pride And Prejudice, Vance would be Mr. Collins.

I'd wager Vance would be more deferential to institutions simply because he doesn't have the audacity of Trump.

(18,511 posts).... from her recently deceased husband,... she is loading up djt with millions upon millions in campaign cash. She is barking out the direction she wants Israel to progress.
Clearing out the Gaza Strip of Palestinians and building homes for Jewish settlers is probably her pipe dream. She and her husband before his passing,... plowed alot of money into Israel and lots of money sent djt's way.
trDUMP was expected to check off and accomplish their Israel wishlist in return for the $$$$ they lavished upon him.

Adelson created the Adelson Foundation in 2007, a private charity focusing on healthcare and support of Israel and the Jewish people. He was a major contributor to Republican Party candidates[5][6] and was often dubbed a "kingmaker" due to the size and frequency of his donations.[7][8] He was Donald Trump's largest donor in 2016 and 2020, providing the largest donation to Trump's 2016 campaign, his presidential inauguration, his defense fund against the Mueller investigation into Russian interference, and the 2020 campaign.[15] He was also a major backer of Israel's prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.[16]
In 2020, Forbes listed his net worth as US$29.8 billion.

(3,210 posts)...of weight recently, and it wouldn't be surprising that happened because his doctors read him the riot act about the stress of a second term (along with his ketchup-throwing rage fits, etc.). I'm sure he was told that if he didn't drop the weight, he wouldn't survive another four years. Unfortunately, any sudden weight loss can really show in your face, and those GLP-1 drugs can really make the weight come off fast.
Based on that recent Air Force One picture, however (the one with RFK Jr), it looks like Trump's diet is as horrifying as ever--he's just probably eating a lot less of it. I'm amazed he's lived as long as he has, with all the KFC and Big Macs he's put away over the years.

And, insofar as that AF One photo -- I think he gets $$ from product placement, like is done in films. Later he did that performance with all those branded foods as he pretended disgust with inflation. Companies pay celebrities to appear with their products conspicuously displayed.
