Shocker! My Trumper father told me he's "greatly disappointed" in Trump.

He said he will no longer wear his Trump hat.

Apparently the last straw for him was Trump saying he will kick out all of the Palestinians from Gaza and take over the land.

I am in shock.

And Trump never said he had such plans during his campaign, in fact, he said just the opposite, that he would end war and foreign entanglement.

Me, I am more bothered by what Trump does than what he says, since I just assume everything Trump says is a lie.

Jared during his campaign. But you're right -- he didn't bring it up on the campaign trail per se.

And that's a problem. The majority of Trumpers I've met watch/attend rallies but don't watch or read what's going on behind the curtain. Can't blame media for that because it was a news broadcast where I watched him gushing over how Gaza's potential could make it "more beautiful than Monaco." Obviously, he decided the French Riviera sounded better than Monaco in his new ideation.

They send out the mouthpieces to walk it back. Defunding the VA. The Gaza clearances. So many.

This has been a feature all along.

And although Rubio may have "clarified" that removing the Palestinians would only be "temporary," Leavitt, like Trump, refused to rule out sending American troops into Gaza, saying of Trump, “he wants to preserve that leverage in negotiations.” https://apnews.com/article/rubio-immigration-guatemala-trump-border-deportation-f928f64eec96b46a880069cbd5580d34

His handlers have been out in force sanewashing and massaging the message. Trying to make his toxic slurs palatable.

Normalizing the abnormal.

I believe that this is the number one reason his entire staff in this do-over is a maximum of third string.

I expect there to be some big diversion flash-bang to get any media attention away from this foreign policy blunder. Probably the Super Bowl.

It would be nice if the Democrats would latch on to something that people like your father have a visceral reaction to and keep pounding on it. Make Trump own it. That’s what Trump and the Retrumplicans fear the most and that’s why they are purging all of the venues where someone could ask Trump the hard questions.

Millions of people are going to die. Disease is going to run rampant over the globe. The economy is going to collapse.

But your dad isn’t going to wear his hat anymore. Well thanks a fucking lot. That makes the end of democracy in America all worth it.

I didn't say my dad not wearing his Trump hat makes the end of democracy worth it. Come on.

The point is, if my dad could grow disillusioned with Trump, any MAGAt could. And that to me is shocking and a sign of hope...that we can turn the MAGAt adulation of Trump around.

But IF we have an election in three years, the right will crank up its hate machine against whoever tge D is, doesn't matter who, the "liberal" press will enable that and he and all the others who may be there now will gobble up the bullshit and vote for him cause the dems put up the only person worse than him.

Even with all the bullshit they pull, there are way more of us than them. We can do this. I am optimistic we will have a great candidate in 2028, and Trump will have done even more repulsive shit by then.

especially for a Dad. It's a lifetime of beliefs stuck between those two ears. A lot of falsehoods to disavow. That wall of reality can be a hard hit. Good for him, and you!
